Recommendations for Custom Reloading

Lots of amateur lawyers in this thread. The OP has a very good and reasonable question. listening to half the responses, I'd expect to see several rifles blow up in people's faces every time I go to the range. They are all shooting the reloads that you wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole.

There are a lot more people able to do professional reloading accurately and reliably than there are capable of rebarreling a rifle. we don't get people saying it is too dangerous to send that job to a professional.

Clearly use someone trustworthy, either confirmed by personal observation or reputation.

I have used Custom Reloads of Dallas for custom loads several years ago, but do not know if he provides load development services. Load development is a lot of work and it won't be inexpensive.

I am not a lawyer but I read once on this website that if you reload ammo for someone and they get hurt you can be sued for injuries. If someone reloads for you do they ask you to sign a release freeing them from damages?

Not true.
A rifle can be checked and tested for safety. Every reload fired is a test...

There are numerous well known accuracy gunsmiths.
There are zero well known custom loaders. I have never known of a well known person who works up accuracy loads for a living.

I reload 2,

So first round after you have a rifle rebarreled do you stand back and use a string?

This is my last post in this thread.

ABM seems to do a good job of it;)

I do a lot of load development for people, their gun, powder, brass, bullets and primers. I'd much rather have them right beside me learning and shooting their own guns, sometimes it's not possible. Mutual trust is there, and I always give them the what-ifs, mostly you can't let a loaded black magazine sit in direct sunlight and expect the same results, safety issues too.
Not having a Class 6 mfg license or insurance, the one thing I will not do is hand them loaded ammo, besides being against the law, I'm not insured. Now if he is helping me load(mostly powdering his own cases), he can go home with a couple 50rd boxes of ammo

If you're not hunting beyond 400 yards, there is no need for handloading.

I've shot factory ammo that is almost as accurate as my best reloads...

Here is a pic of a 5-shot group with Federal Premium 243win 100gr Sierra Gameking at 100 meters... Box of ammo was several years old to boot.

I am a little afraid of some folks that work up loads and reload ammo. If you use someone that reloads with a lathe under his arm and a hammer to make the brass go into the shell holder, I think I would look further.

Lots of rifles call his name and he answers some. I dont think anybody i know knows how to get in touch with him to even get a solution
