Recommendations for Custom Reloading

I just don’t have time for developing reloads for my hunting rifles. I have look on the web and there are a lot who offer their services. Who would you recommend as the best and "trust to send" your rifle and scope to and to give safe ammo to shoot.

One time someone mentioned Lee Gardner Precision

Superior ammunition. Will work up load and give load date . Super work- fast turn around.

Honestly, due to liability issues, in your case I would just buy several brands of commercial loads and shoot what works best. I would never, under any circumstances, shoot loads developed and loaded by anyone but myself. Not that crazy about factory rounds either, but haven't bought any of those except .22 LR and shotgun shells for over 50 years.

Some guys don't get that these services are offered by professionals.

They use your rifle, your brass, your powder and projectile selection and work up safe accurate loads for you to duplicate.
You can end up chasing your tail with factory loads if you need long range accuracy that takes real time to find with a reload.....unless you're shit lucky.

If your hunting deer size animals factory loaded ammo should be good to 300 yards. The accuracy depends on your shooting ability in different positions not a custom reload. How big of a group do you shoot at 100 yards standing or kneeling when your breathing hard?

I think that even trying to follow another's recipe might not put you into the accuracy node that the outfit you hired had found for your rig. Unless he is using the same powder lot, primer lot, brass lot, scale, sizing die and calipers - not to mention that you are capable of getting the shoulder bump and seating depth exactly the same as he did, your replication of his ammo might work similarly - and maybe not. If just for hunting as you say - I'd just buy factory. Reading reports in magazines, they say factory ammo has come a long ways, though I haven't shot any in a while. I'd start with Black Hills if they have your caliber. Those boys know what works in most rifles.

What do you hunt and how often?

With today' premium factory loads you really don't have to reload for big game hunting.

Depending how far you anticipate shooting for varmint and predator hunting it may benefit you to reload to tailor make you reloads for ultimate accuracy. I would say out to 250 yards you're probably alright with premium factory ammo but I would verify on the range. My personal standard for varmints reloads is in the 1/2 moa area give or take a little.

If I was in your shoes I would use ABM / Berger match ammo. Lapua also makes some nice ammo.

I would get a hold of Frank Galli from snipershide I know hes mentioned sometimes he has a company doing his reloading I just can't remember the name

Lots of amateur lawyers in this thread. The OP has a very good and reasonable question. listening to half the responses, I'd expect to see several rifles blow up in people's faces every time I go to the range. They are all shooting the reloads that you wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole.

There are a lot more people able to do professional reloading accurately and reliably than there are capable of rebarreling a rifle. we don't get people saying it is too dangerous to send that job to a professional.

Clearly use someone trustworthy, either confirmed by personal observation or reputation.

I have used Custom Reloads of Dallas for custom loads several years ago, but do not know if he provides load development services. Load development is a lot of work and it won't be inexpensive.

I've never used them but a friend of mine has and he swears by them. ( Precise ammunition). The ammo shot good but wasn't good enough for me but I'm pretty picky...

Spencer barrel may do this . I know that they build rifles and do load development for these rifles , but I don't know if they will load you multiple rounds . It sure wouldn't hurt to call and ask them . If it's just an occasional hunting rifle then buy hunting ammo . Its usually 1moa or better
