Recommend an electonic predator caller.

I am looking for a good e-caller. Needs to be pretty loud, as I hunt open country. I like the remote control to get the caller away from me. So I'd like something I can get some distance with. I am using a buddies primos, and that thing cant be farther than 20 ft away.

I run a FoxPro Scorpion with an external speaker. No problems with volume and my typical setup has the caller and decoy about 25-30 yards from my hide. Many Reds have been suckered in! ;D

I like my Fox Pro Firestorm, really works well in this open country around here as well.

I had a Wildlife Technologies , it worked well when it worked. Most of the time, however, it was broken down. It was sent back in several times for repairs but I finally gave up on it.

That bites! I've been using mine since 2009, and haven't had a problem. In fact, I still have the same battery(s) in the remote. And it gets quite a bit of use in the winter.

Mine was a pre 2009. One of the early models. Sound quality was excellent. I just could not keep it running. The last stand mine ever made, was right after another warranty fix. 1 stand and 5 coyotes came in shoulder to shoulder . I killed them all. A personal best. On stand 2 it quit, again, and that was it for me and Wildlife Technologies. Prior to that I used a Johnny Stewart tape machine, and of course, hand calls. Now I use a FoxPro and the machine is very reliable. I do believe sound quality is second rate to Wildlife Technologies. But the FoxPro just keeps on working, no matter how much I abuse it. I find myself using hand calls more and more. I have better control, I believe the sound is cleaner and it makes it easier to pack both rifle and shotgun. Remember the old Record machines?

Yes, I do remember the old 45rpm record players. The Johnny Stewart record player was the first one I had. I used to call out of trees and ran the 25ft speaker cable to the ground. I called while I and the caller were balanced in a crotch or two of big old oak trees. Kinda humerous at times. I still have most of the JS records in the green album. I ran JS callers from 1964 to 1997. The Wildlife Tech calls just came out, 1997 I believe. This was the "6" PVC tube looking call. Anyway, I have been through all the WT generations and currently have both of the latest models. I rate them VERY high. Around 2004, not sure of the year, Bill M. did have some problems with the calls. Those issues, I believe, were resolved.

The WT calls will provide you with ALL the volume you would ever need.

My average year is in the 60 coyotes killed and 8 to 10 bobcats killed. I let Grey Foxes go. I cannot compare WT calls to any other as I have no experience with others. However, my motto is: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Hellfire is a good call too, not Krakatoa good but close enough at half the price.

My friend has the MA-21 wildlife technologies. Clearest thing I've heard to date, but I don't like their sounds as much as fox pro and they REALLY need an LCD remote.

I like the Hellfie, but there were a lot of reviews that said the remote sucks and you couldn't get any range. Do you have experience with it?

Yea just keep the batteries fresh and it's good to go. As with anything remote controlled you don't want too much brush in the way but shrubs and grasses don't really bother it.

I just purchased a Primos Alpha Dogg ($214 right now through Midway) and I am pleased with it for the price. If you want a really nice caller and have $600.00, the FoxPro Shockwave is the ultimate. For the price point, the Alpha Dogg can't be beat IMO. You get a lot of caller for the money. It is super loud, had positional speakers, an excellent remote, and is loaded with calls. I will say that I do like the FoxPro distressed rabbit sounds a bit better, but you can D/L them from the FoxPro site and install them on the Alpha Dogg. All in all, I like this caller a lot so far.

I vote for Wildlife Technology , I have a older 15 watt . It has worked well for me. Called 7 coyotes in 2 weeks ago . I set at least 30 min, the call will reach them long way off, it takes coyotes some time to cover the distance !

don't spend more than $150.00 I have a power dogg paid $89.00 for it 5 years ago and have killed a truck load of coyotes with it, still works fine has 12 sounds and half a dozen bite marks where dogs have tried to eat it. primos has a great new turbo dogg wal mart has them for $149.00
