Recommend a top *traditional?* gunsmith (Bluing/walnut, etc)

I'm sure it's great, always was. Reno is only an hour and half for me and is an easy day trip for nothing more than fuel and dinner. But yes I do need to make it to Dallas one of these days..

Jim Kobe is an artist with Model 70's. He built me a .458 Lott on an old .375 Model 70 and he is my first choice for wood stocked rifles.

If you had a fine, walnut stocked, pretty blued pre64 M70 rifle that you wanted to have some work done, really good work…let’s say bed the stock, re-crown, etc. Who would be your guy? How about if you wanted the action trued also? Same guy?

Thanks,
K
I would have anything done to model 70 pre 64 . Anything done will decease the value.

What is that Butch?

It is a Hyper Single. Sam Lair of Jenks, Ok. made a run of them several years ago. I was lucky enough to trade for this one. It is in 257 Roberts. This one is serial# 002. I still have a few brochures. This particular rifle was built for Charlie Williams. Charlie designed the Shilen trigger and the Benchmaster action. I traded a new Sako PPC single shot in 6PPC for it. I had Jim Kobe restock it in French Walnut that I bought from Tom Turpin. It originally was stocked in Myrtle Wood.
