Recommend a Game Camera under $200

I'm looking for a game camera with black flash and at least a 50 ft. night range. I would like to spend under $200. What do you recommend ?

TIA,
Rich

I have two Browning Strikeforce models that have performed well for the two years I have owned them.

I've got a couple of Primos Truth Cam 01 cams that I've had really good luck with. It is super easy to operate. Pics are plenty good day & night & battery life is great, especially if your willing to pony up for the Energizer Ultimate Lithium. Good batteries are well worth the cash in game cams. The Truth Cam 01 can be had for $99, so you could buy twice as many on your budget. Below are a couple of pic examples taken with those cams. Day & night.

Love the moultries. They perform well. Had a bear literally eat part of it and moultries replaced it with not only a new one but an upgraded one. Great customer service. That alone will keep me going back.

Best reviews are from these guys http://www.trailcampro.com/ They eat, sleep, and dream trail cameras.

I've been using the Primos Proof 02 and 03(now owned by Bushnell) and the Bushnell Essential and Agressor and for the price they are fantastic. Bushnell's warranty and customer service is among the best. I don't like to go over $100 because most of mine are public land so I won't be too upset if stolen. I usually put my old cameras on public.Try to stay with a convenient battery size(AA). Read their section on batteries also.

The Tenergy TN160 charger is the best thing going unless you go lithium

Take a look at Day 6 outdoors plot watched pro camera. They definitely put a new twist on Game cams. There time lapse cameras. Google plot watcher pro and view some you tube videos on them. I purchased one for my bear hunts. Knowledge of which direction bears come from to bait is important. Tough at times to tell but with these cameras, it's easy. Haven't tried them for deer but that's what they seem to be used for in all the videos.

I've used TrailCamPro.com for awhile to check out reviews. They seem very upfront with ratings, good and bad, of the ones they sell. They don't test everyone out there, but its a good start. I have an older discontinued Moultrie that I continue to be impressed with, and I also have a Bushnell HD that works very well. I need to look at picking up a couple more cameras for this fall. The Browning Strikeforce was one I was looking at the last time I browsed them.

Game cameras are something that everyone has a different experience with. For example, I purchased a couple very well known brand cams that are promoted by some very well known outdoor show hosts. Both of them were in my opinion...junk. Both malfunctioned and the company DID NOT stand behind them. The store did, thankfully. At some point, many game cams will have a manufactured issue that is not owner related. I've had issues with 3 different companies cameras. 2 companies backed there's and replaced them. 1 did not want to warranty there's, it was just not working all the time while hung in the woods. Most cameras are fantastic, even those companies that do not back the replacement warranty. To me anymore, I just want a very good quality picture, trigger speed and easy to set up camera with a company who cares about customer service. Wouldn't think that's asking alot but put that requirement to the test and you'd be surprised. Guess that applies to all products but let's stick to jus t game cams here.

I'll echo 284winner, I don't care who uses what on their TV shows. A fast trigger speed and reset are critical. Good night picture capabilities and a company who will stand behind their stuff is what I'm looking for in any future cameras.

I have had a lot of game cams, some very expensive, when I am running cameras, I have a string of 24 I will flood an area with. Check out the Covert brand, IMHO best bang for the buck.

I have used Primos, Wildlife Innovations, Pennswoods, and Cuddeback. I had the best luck with Cuddeback. They always catch the game and I got very few black or white out pictures. The Pennswoods were older ones with white flash, but they worked and are the only ones still in use after 12 years. Best I ever got was about two years and even Cuddeback refused to stand behind them. The worst were undoubtedly Primos Truth cameras...got a year out of them and they got the well known "SD card is full" problem. In spite of it being well documented at the time, the folks at Primos said "we don't know what you are talking about, never heard of it, but send us your camera and the same money you paid for it and we will replace them" as if they were doing me a favor. I am done with Primos and I am done with Cuddeback. I am getting a little sick of companies pedaling chinese junk, but that is all there is. Do you really have to spend $600.00 {chinese junk with a little Q.C.} on a trail cam to get one to last more than two years?????
I just ordered a new Browning camera and bear box today...more chinese junk, but we'll see...
Bushnell cameras were rated very high, I should try one I guess...but I have never had any luck with anything Bushnell ever made.

I am also looking for a trail cam of the type you listed. No one seems to agree. Printed reviews are nice, but try and get one of the exact model # reviewed. I'm leaning toward Bushnell (I am not a fan of their optics in the last 2 decades) because of the recommendation of a local waterways patrol officer who has used them for surveillance.

Browning trail cameras are all that I will buy anymore. They take great pictures and videos, are easy to program, and last a long time. Mine stay in the field year round, and the only brand that has lasted more than 2 years are the Browning cameras. I have 6 of them now.
