Recoil lug (To pin or not)

I'm having a rifle put together right now...should I have the new lug pinned to the Remington short action or not? I will have another barrel made at the same time. Yes, it will be a switch barrel although the same chamber !! This a mid range F TR rifle. So it won't be years before the barrel comes off. It might come off if it doesn't shoot and or just to test the other barrel. Which lug to go with? I was leaning towards the Holland. I know there's tons of them out there now.
Thanks again

I just had a switch barrel rifle built and it is on a stiller predator single shot action. It has a pinned recoil lug and I like it because when I change the barrel out I dont have to take the action out of the stock and use alignment tool to align the lug. If its not too much to have it done, I say do it!

I would definitely pin if you plan on swapping barrels. Like mentioned above...no need to remove action and use a lug alignment tool to align the lug.

I just pinned a 40x and used a .200" PTG tapered lug. Uses one 3/32 pin set at 6 o'clock.
PTG makes several, tapered and parallel in different thicknesses. Very nice quality and reasonably priced.

I had one pinned, never pinned another.

If your barrel has taper in it and stock like wise, then you will have to remove the stock. You can use the Kleindorst lug locator. Another method is to bed the rifle with the recoil lug bedded on 4 sides(relieve the bottom). Then when replacing the new barrel, use the bedded section in the stock to locate the lug, tighten the barrel with stock attached.

Nothing wrong with pinning, just another cost. Alternatives are good.
