Recoil Lug location?

I've been looking several actions over lately and have noticed some have large integral lugs, some have smaller pinned lugs located on the barrel tenon, and then there are actions with the lug somewhere in the middle.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of lug position, attachment method, and size?

how about the Panda with the lug in the rear,,,one of the most used and successful actors out there,,,,,,,it is more about bedding than action design or lug placement ,,,Roger
