rechambering Savage-Stevens barrel

I have Stevens in 7mm-08, about 7 years old, and the factory chamber is loose-fitting.
My plan is to re-chamber, make barrel shorter, re-crown, cut threads for a can.
My assumption is that Stevens barrel is just carbon steel, and if so I don't think it has any corrosion protection in chamber?
Any recommendations how to protect exposed metal after lathe work completed? Currently it is factory finish.

You can probably find a new take-off for a lot less aggravation, even if you were to do the re-chambering work yourself. No way should you pay a smith for it...

Well, i'm the one who will do the work. And it is just for fun.
I re-barreled my Savage and other rifle from 308 to 7mm-08. Both Stainless steel. Both of these shoot about MOA with the same ammo. And I want to do the same with Stevens. In hope that all 3 would use the same load. They are for hunting. With ammo shortage my plan to standardize on one caliber.
So back to original questions.

See post #2. Rub some cold blue in there if you think youll ever let it rust or not keep it oiled

After i reamed my Stevens 200 in 7mm-08 to 7mm-08AI, i just did normal cleaning, then run an oiled patch through.
Never had any issues.
Ditto the 2 other barrels i've reamed.

After a dozen shots or so, your bluing is gone in the bore. How do you keep that from rusting?? Use the same method for the chamber.
I live in a low humidity area and have several barrels that have been on the guns and hunted without a finish on the CM barrel. No rust so far. If you live in AK, FL, MS ... I understand your concern. Light oil will work, personally, I would dry the chamber and bore before firing.

I have seen a surprising amount of corrosion leaving a brass cartridge case in a new unused blued barrel chamber.
I first saw a film on dissimilar metals in 8th grade shop class in 1965, but get refresher course every time it happens to me. Every military contract I won in the 80s and 90s had in the spec, MIL-STD-889. We put Stainless 4-40 screws in Aluminum alloy all the time, and got away with a little Aluminum weakening.
