Rechambering a 6.5X284 to 6.5X47

If you are talking difference in cartridge dimensions, looking at the reamer prints should give you a clue. Otherwise, factoring in throat erosion, fire cracking will be unique to each bbl.
Without resorting to trig at the neck juncture and off the top of my head, it will be where the approx .480" coincides with the taper of the .284 case.
I'm guessing the smith would have to get into the neck area when parting off, so whatever the body length plus a bit....if an excellent throat.

Most will cut all the way into the freebore area AT LEAST. If its a tapered barrel and a 6.5x284 you aint gonna make it even if your gunsmith would rechamber it. 1000+ rds and youll lose 3”. Measure the dia at that point and if its less than 1.200 just go ahead and get another barrel.

Its a # 17 with maybe 300 rounds fired through it, should have the room to cut it. Cant find another one wright now and had this one on a shelf, may wait a couple weeks and see if one comes up.

I have a new 28" 6.5 Krieger blank Rem varmint contour.
Wife won't let me change her barrel, and the blank won't fit the barrel channel of my 6five.
