Rechamber 260 into 6.5 Creedmore

Rechamber 260 into 6.5 Creedmore

I have a question for the more knowledgeable folks here. I have a good friend still shooting 308 and he is not a reloader yet. I was considering donating a barrel and a trued R700 action to give him fighting chance at our local matches.

I have an extra 260 barrel collecting dust. It is a heavy/medium palma 26" Chanlynn. The barrel shank is 3". I am assuming since the barrel came of a Bighorn that all the threads would be chopped off (1.25"). I looked at SAMMI diagrams and it appears that the Creedmore is ever so slightly larger diameter than a 260 case/chamber. It seems to me, a none gunsmith, that this may work pretty well and can be done on the cheap without a lot of complications or pitfalls.

Please let me know what you guys think, or if you have done this successfully or unsuccessfully.

I like 260 better because you have more choices with brass you can make 260 brass from 308 708 or 243 good choices with brass hornday only makes 6.5 creedmore brass that I know you can get more out of a 260 that's my 2 cents

I don't think you actually read the thread. He does not reload. I will refund your 2 cents back.

The question is about cutting back and rechambering a 260 into 6.5 creedmore.

Seems like a solid plan for a re-chamber, but i don't know if i would re-chamber a used barrel depends on the round count. Seems like a perfectly good barrel you might be able to trade for a pre-fit or blank for your friend.

From Ammo Guide:
Sorry, but based on your settings, you cannot ReChamber your .260 Remington firearm to 6.5 Creedmoor because the case of the 6.5 Creedmoor is too narrow at the top of shoulder.

Also, the case of the .260 Remington is too wide at the bottom of shoulder.

I read his post agian, he seems to know that the tenon must be chopped off in order to rethread to a blueprinted actions (what i assume is .010 over thread pitch)
