Recently received primary ballots

In WA if you vote for anything other than the left side of the political spectrum you are essentially wasting your time. I still vote but I already know what the results will be. Having spent the last 6 months living in downtown Seattle and seeing how it has been essentially destroyed, I hear people saying that the voters will eventually see the error of their ways and change the way the vote. That is not true. The people who vote for the destruction of their cities are true believers. They are certain that theirs is the righteous path. When it fails they blame the other guy and double down on their stupidity.

Couple that with the fact that whenever the voters reject a new tax initiative Bob Ferguson takes the voters to court and wins (that is when new taxes are placed on the ballot which most of the time they are not), the violations of the 2nd amendment and attempts to restrict the 1st amendment and we are clearly living in a totalitarian state. Sad but true.

Washington has been a 'blue state' for about 40 years. The majority of the population is on the west side of the mountains, that is why it has greater influence in elections. Also the west side has most of the skilled and 'high tech' industries, the education level is different. The problem is not the citizens and voters it is the quality of candidates and ideas being offered for the ballot. Endorsing a person for governor that only has a GED and failed running a 2 person, small town police department is not a means to winning elections for state wide office. Now the Republican party is endorsing a recalled school board member for governor. Why can't republicans attract better candidates is the question. Governors Dan Evans and John Spellman were good administrators and also very good people, this type of person doesn't seem to be available to the republican party or is not willing to be a candidate. To cure the problem just placing blame is not productive, find a solution. Better people, better ideas and more discussion.

Not true. You could run Obama as a republican and he would loose in WA.

The education thing on the west side is not the issue. The well educated and intelligent people are independents or republicans. They understand economics and the consequences of their choices. It is the army of baristas and other low level workers moving into Seattle in droves for that 25 dollar minimum wage and who want something for nothing. They are the ones who make the state blue. Then you have the public sector employees and unions who have been bought off and consume the majority of the taxes in WA. I mean who would object to retiring at 450,000 a year as ferry employees are doing. It's only 4-5 times the median wage of those who pay for it. Of course then you have the evil rich socialists like Kashma who is wealthy (husband is a Microsoft millionaire) and claims to be in it for the people. Reminds me of Berney with his three houses and whose constituents likely have zero to 1 houses. The people who vote for these candidates have IQ's well below room temperature. Education and intelligence are contra indicators of the voting preferences among the peoples of the wet side.

I won't discuss or argue opinion.

If this isn't allowed, please let me know.

Just received our primary ballots and in the past the envelope to send in covered personal info with no affiliation to party (that i recall). So this year the envelope clearly makes you specify party affiliation or vote does not count. It has to match whose name you check inside or its invalid.

Have others had this happen? I'm curious as I feel this shouldn't in any way be available to anyone until it's opened and counted.

If It's allowed I'll post pics.

NO ONE knows if you are a republican or democrat by your ballot!!
It's just a ballot.
Registered Democrat only because it's a PITA to get into the court house to change voting parties. You damn near have to be NEKED!!
I got a Republican ballot in the mail, saw Trump's name on it. made my mark and sent it in. :D
The only ID is on the "return envelope", just your name. NOTHING on the ballot!! If they want to throw it out, go for it.
I often wonder if your vote really counts anyway.

Makes sense to me if it is a primary ballot and your primaries are closed. Democrats nominate someone and Republicans nominate someone. If the envelope is not marked, how do they know if it is for the Democrat or Republican primary. In the runoff, party affiliation doesn't matter and should not be on the ballot or envelope.

For those who say "vote in person" we cannot. For example, there are only 2 "voter service locations" in all of Spokane County, the elections office at the courthouse in Spokane and CenterPlace event center in Spokane Valley. There you can, register or update voter registration, drop off your ballot, obtain a replacement ballot or envelope, use an "accessible voting unit", and get answers to your voting questions. 2020 Census cites Spokane County population at 539,339 and, area wise, is almost 1800sq miles.

We have a ballot drop box 3mi from our house or we can mail them. That location used to be where I would sign in, get and cast my ballot. When WA went to statewide mail in ballot, stamps were required, that changed later with postage paid envelopes. Yes, I know, we pay for it thru taxes.

Like others who actually live here have posted, the largest voting bloc in the state is Seattle and the surrounding counties. Election after election after election, they decide what happens in WA.

I'm with Ron on this one.

I believe ya Ron! Also feel bad for anyone stuck in Seattle.
I don't feel bad for them. They created an environment in their own image now they are being forced to live their virtue. People need to understand, that they are forced to live with the consequences of their actions is not their fault, it is your (and my) fault. Just ask them.

Not shooting related.
3 weeks ago on the corner of the street we were staying in the South Lake Union neighborhood there was a guy standing there with his pants around his ankles flipping everyone off. He was shooting something. I didn't recognize the caliber but I do congratulate those living there on the welcoming environment they have created. Hopefully they stay there and enjoy the fruits of their voting records.
