Recent USPS Delays..When Did They Start?

Don’t know when it started but I do know I have had a UPS account I use for shipping for at least 7 years…. Eff the post office. They are OK with letters, anything else is a complete roll of the dice. I am sure there are good people who work for the postal service… but there is a whole lotta bad…

I have to chuckle at people who suggest the Postal Service should be a private business. Do they think a private business would provide all the money-losing services the Postal Service now provides? The Postal Service is mandated to provide service to every address in the nation. Do you think a private business would do the same? For every lost article, the Postal Service delivers millions of pieces of mail every day.

Well, FEDEX and UPS dont deliver to my address. So its a clear no for my area. Im in a rural area in Alaska.

I sold well over a hundred items from my friend Keith's estate. Started shipping items in June. Most USPS due to flat rate shipping prices. I did not have any problems at all until the last couple of months.

My Sister was postmaster in St Charles, Missouri when Obama went into office. Around 350 employees. She had to have people from higher up come in and force some "folks" to work. They seemed to think they didn't have to do their jobs anymore.

Just wondering when everyone's shipping problems started recently????

My own experience began 1/4/25 and I stopped shipping anything usps by end of January because their issues are far, FAR worse than I've ever seen before. We're almost April and I'm still going through lost packages as well as mail.

I can only say that if they can't fix it fast, they should lock the doors immediately. I have friends and family that either work there or retired there..both! But what we are seeing right at this moment is very far from acceptable. Fix it or close the doors NOW! I've had great success with usps for many years, shipping a lot of packages. I have NEVER seen anything even close to what they are right this moment. I can NOT over state that! I really can't even imagine HOW it got like this! Do NOT count on USPS to get your mortgage payment to the bank on time!!! Read that again!!! The bank won't care.

It's been a S**T Show for the last 6 months here in NC with any package coming from the West/Midwest part of the country. I have started choosing UPS for anything I order or ship. I am still waiting on a shipment of Vapor Trail bullets that Tom sent out on March 4th. They were "lost in transit" for 11 days! Hope they sell that failed government program off to the highest bidder and make it a private business!

Hang tight. I had the same problem with a package from them. Mine came yesterday to central PA. The USPS is not doing a very good job. Someone just told me to sign up for the email updates from USPS and it seems to help the package move. Imagine how a shipper feels when their good name and product can’t reach its customer because a govt. run business can’t do their job.

The USPS was set up by Ben Franklin to be a SERVICE, it was never intended to make money or break even. If it is privatized, you will see a huge reduction in home delivery. There will be banks of lock boxes where you go to pick up your mail and they may be a long way from your house.

IF it ever becomes privatized I hope we'll have the option to opt out of junk mail. That should have already been an option, IMHO.

About 18 years years ago, the postal service created the "forever stamp"
gimmick. I'm sure they were figuring on a quick early flow of cash, but I
do think it's biting them in the ass now. Still have a few books of the early
ones I pull out now and then, when I need to send a check.

I bought a scope from a member here that he shipped on 3/12 from PA. I’m just 4hrs from him here in Cleveland and tracking says its in transit to the next facility as of 3/16.

Closing this loop. The scope came in today and signed for my wife.

There are forever stamps being printed off shore. It's been going on for a while. Nice looking but still counterfeit.

Maybe that will be looked into with the new administration. It's stealing.

The Indianapolis hub has been a sh!t show since before Christmas...items sit there for weeks before moving. Right before Christmas they decided to move the receiving facility and that was a disaster and mail has backed up with christmas packages still sitting there yet. I recently learned that 5 upper management types have been fired. All of my mail goes to Indy and then out from there...after several packages got hung up there I started going to a little post office just across the state line from me in Illinois and so far all of my shipments have been delivered on time or ahead of time...they go to Champaign and then out from there.

One thing that helps is if you set up an account with the USPS, you can file a "missing mail" report and I have found that usually within a day or two your item will get pulled and start moving again. So far this has worked for me on the last several packages...both outgoing and incoming... that have made it to Indy and stalled out...I think you have to wait 10 days before you can file the missing mail claim. It seems to work though.

USPS lost a cashiers check I sent priority mail. I was not happy. Bank cancelled and issued a new check fortunately.

Mailed a package from east central Iowa to Pa 3-10, it went the wrong direction 120 miles west to Des Moines, left there 3-16 and went to Omaha, further west, 5 hours from me. Left Omaha 3-18

The reason for the original post was to see if the employees were sabotaging the new administration.

Looks like that is not the case.

It seems to me to be a clear case of the people in charge "being educated above their intelligence"....

As of 4pm today, the package above is back in Omaha.... wtf???

March of 2022 is when major changes with USPS funding, health benefits(for employees) and first class service changes occured. First class delivery was slowed(intentionally) due to less Air movement , a cost savings, more ground transportation. I believe the healthcare insurance ( now in Medicare system) made many employees mad. Mad employees aren't productive.

Recently, like a week ago, I had a book shipped to me from about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes away by car take five days to reach me. I have noticed plenty of other shipments track out something like this "Akron-->Cleveland-->Akron-->Cleveland-->Akron-->my house" or "Cleveland-->Cleveland-->Cleveland--Cleveland-->my house".

At the end of February, I sent two money orders to Ohio from North Carolina. One took almost 2 weeks. The other one another week. That is just pitiful ! I don't believe folks care anymore about their jobs.
