Recent USPS Delays..When Did They Start?

It's been at least 3 years. Maybe more. It just keeps getting worse.
I agree. The mail carrier ran over my lawn and broke my sprinkler 3 times and I just fixed it.
Asked the mail carrier to just watch out for it after the second time.
On the 4th time, I fixed it, took pic of the tire marks etc. and went to the PO to complain.
They said there were two ways to resolve the problem. Stop complaining or not receive any mail .... my choice

Dejoy had a lot of hubs closed. We had a large hub here in Erie Pa.
We sit in the middle of Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. With it's
closing, Most mail is sent to Pittsburgh to be sorted and rerouted.
Where I could send a local letter or package, it now gets bounced
around to parts unknown first.....Current rumors is a scheme to merge
the Postal service with the commerce department. Between Dejoy
and Lutnick, follow the money and loyalties.......

I have to chuckle at people who suggest the Postal Service should be a private business. Do they think a private business would provide all the money-losing services the Postal Service now provides? The Postal Service is mandated to provide service to every address in the nation. Do you think a private business would do the same? For every lost article, the Postal Service delivers millions of pieces of mail every day.

Yes sir, a private business could clean this POS up!

Mailed a package from east central Iowa to Pa 3-10, it went the wrong direction 120 miles west to Des Moines, left there 3-16 and went to Omaha, further west, 5 hours from me. Left Omaha 3-18

The reason for the original post was to see if the employees were sabotaging the new administration.

Looks like that is not the case.

It seems to me to be a clear case of the people in charge "being educated above their intelligence"....

My mail service is outstanding!!! If the package is too large for the mail box, it is delivered to the porch with the mail in envelops. When I mail treasure it has been delivered very timely, usually quicker than stated. The clerk in the post office is very courteous and helpful, always suggesting the most economical container. Privatization means poorer service, higher costs and lack of control. Yes, there may be room for improvement, Let's DO IT, but private for profit is not a remedy. It is OK for the government to do something for the people. Remember Lincoln said "of the people, by the people and FOR THE PEOPLE".

The USPS is in the RED for $-6.48 BILLION. That's UNSUSTAINABLE. And a postal worked was just arrested for stealing $1.6 Million in checks sent though the mail. Who knows how many people are looking at your mail... Ben Franklin is turning in his grave.

I sent a scope I recently sold to Western California from Northwestern Pennsylvania. I mailed it out USPS priority mail Saturday morning. They predicted it would get there Tuesday. They were only one day off, it just got there a few hours ago so they were a day late, which isn’t bad. I don’t doubt for a second the stories I read. But of all the packages I have sent to USPS, maybe 20 total,I have never had a bad experience. I guess I’m just fortunate.

I had a package delivery from Preston,IA on 3/8. It took 6 days to get to Cedar Rapids, then went to DesMoines, then to MN, back to desMoines, then back to Cedar Rapids, then back to a DesMoines.
Left There on 3/15, stating heading to new destination, arriving late!Really!
Last info was on the way to new destination on 3/17. It’s supposed to come here to SC, but I have lost hope.
How can they be this screwed up is beyond me. Eleven days already on a Priority Mail package.
I had an Amazon package come from Colorado, made it to SC in 3 days!

Same thing here in Georgia took me 11 days to get a priority envelope delivered to me. I’m beginning to wonder if UPS has any better bill

I have never had a problem shipping thru them either. It's the waiting
forever to get something in. i ordered a part from a mower service I have
used for years. Two weeks later, NADA !! Tracking number always says
Kent Ohio, on the way. Now says Cincinnati as of this morning. Kent is
next to Youngstown, and Youngstown is near to I-79, and it then a short
hop up to Erie. At least it could have turned south to Pittsburgh's hub.

DOGE and proper leadership should achieve improved service with less cost. That's the way it worked in the private sector, pre covid. Time to right the ship!

I bought a scope from a member here that he shipped on 3/12 from PA. I’m just 4hrs from him here in Cleveland and tracking says its in transit to the next facility as of 3/16.

They seemed to think they didn't have to do their jobs anymore.

Just wondering when everyone's shipping problems started recently????
Trying not to make this political.
Later

Dave
Yes that is exactly the attitude I am getting from my local Post Office
Started approx 1 year ago for me
I went in to try and see if they could track a shipment that was supposedly "Delivered?"
(but was nowhere to be found)
And the lady who had been there for years basically just shrugged her shoulders and said straight up
"Meh I only have 2 more years here, not worth my time, you'll get it eventually"
If she was not a woman I would showed her really .....what
"I dont give an F means" and reached over the counter and like you said
Made her do her job

Now my other post office 15 miles up the road
All of them are helpful and nice as can be
So I see it is an individual Office thing

Put some nails in your lawn, make it clear it was on purpose after the fact when he pops all his tires
when he confronts you
"tell him to stop complaining" about where he drives his own vehicle

Seriously,
that attitude of theirs is plain unprofessional

My latest problem package mailed 9 days ago is now 250 miles west of me. It is to be delivered 975 to the east of here.

They must not realize logistics is important to the cost of doing business.

Heads need to roll....starting at the top.

That may happen.....
