Recent South Dakota Prairie Dog Trip

Was able to tag along with a couple SD Prairie Dog veterans recently to use my 223 Ackley Improved. Weather was either really hot or really windy, but had a great time. 94 degree high one day, 15-20 mph sustained winds another, gusts up somewhere around 30 mph. Some of the 500+ shots got really interesting! Shot mostly 60gr Sierra TMK loads @ 3360 fps and 40 gr VMAX fireforming loads @ 3800 fps. Big thanks to @Dale264 for letting me tag along!

No heat and wind I would think I was in the wrong place, lol.
I have used the 60 grain Vmax with pretty good results, seems Sierra bullets are hit and miss on availability.
I also built a rig similar to yours. It is a 20BR for now, have a 223 bolt head also, I like the KRG and went with that.

It's just veterinarian tape I wrap on to keep the scratches down a bit. My turrets are beat up bad and wish there was a way to cover them too. I really wouldn't mind, but in case I want to sell in the future it might be nice to keep it less scratched up. Also, and I might be alone here, but I'm not the biggest fan of the color of Vortex's Razors. The more covered up the better.

Good stuff! My annual p-dog trip was a bit chilly and less dogs than normal. But I still wouldn't trade it.

We were out there first week in June, weather was cool but dogs we’re plentiful. Even had a coyote stop in for a free meal. He should have got it to go.
