Recent Potential Short-range Group World Record

Has there been any recent (2025) short range “Group” Benchrest World Record target/aggs submitted under IBS or NBRSA awaiting verification?
Thanks, Lee

No, something recent. I was watching a recent Podcast, where Austin Orgain, a world class shooter, that owns and operates a barrel manufacturing company called Custom Rifle Barrel referenced that one of his barrels was used to shoot a potential SR Benchrest world record. Not sure if it was score or group. I just wondering who and where.

I don’t recall seeing any published as of late that have cleared the Records Committee.
The single group records are now so small that It would be logical to see the difficulty in breaking one.

I think most shooters look at aggregate records more.. The old saying that even a blind squirrel can find one acorn stands true. But finding five or more ups the anti considerabl.

This post has nothing to do with submittals. Normally, any potential world record gets a lot of attention on the internet. So, when I listened to a barrel maker mention it, I was curious who did. I have an IBS Group 3-Gun record on the books and if someone breaks it, I want to be the first to offer congratulations!

Sorry if I miss construed your inquiry.
Lee, his company does make cut rifled barrels, and if as advertised, that being precision lapped and checked for exact dimensions, one of his 13.5 twist 6MM offerings might be up to the task.
I can not find a link to the Pod Cast you are referring too. It would be interesting to see what he has to say.

A Hornady Podcast #177, Custom Rifle Barrels (around the 3 minute mark).
The 33:30 mark.
A name would have been nice. Short Range is a pretty close knit community.
It sounds like he is doing things correctly.
As a Machinist, I can pretty much separate the wheat from the chaff in these types of conversations. His final statements at 44:40 is possibly his best. Kinda gives a down to earth no BS outlook on things.

Ive had some really good barrels when it was hawk hill in both long range and short range barrels even shot a 250 25x with one last year. I haven't tried them since they were sold and became CRB barrels but believe I may give them a shot sometime soon. If there the same quality as the Hawk hills where they won't disappoint.

I've got a lot of friends shooting CRB barrels and I have two chambered CRB blanks in the pile ready to spin on. All the feedback I've heard has been very positive.

I had great experience with Hawk Hill in the past and this is the same barrel manufacturing equipment under new ownership. New owners come from an engineering background and are exceptional shooters in their own right (National & World Champions), so I have no doubt they will maintain high quality standards.

That is encouraging to hear. And, if they want to succeed they had better imo, and not take a lot of payments upfront and fall down on delivery as several have in the past.

Ahh! A barrel maker claiming his barrels shoot World Records? I’d take that with a grain of salt!
So, is the claim valid? Don’t know.., no one has spoken up.
Three things have to be in harmony to shoot a world record, you have to have a great barrel, great bullets and someone to guide the rifle.

I notice that CRB does not offer a 30 in 1-17 or 1-18 twist.

Lee, these seem like the only likely candidates. Same match, correct time frame. The equipment list in the magazine says Krieger and Bartlein, but we all know how those go.

And this text from the magazine sounds like the same accounting as in the video:

Maybe someone that knows Richard or Jim will confirm what barrels they were using.
