Received My new gun from Savage!?!? :(

So going on lucky number 3 for problems with Savage, :( I received the LRPV 6 Norma Br, right port, 1 in 12, also has a mag feed. Not the 12 bench rest 6 Norma Br.

Yeah this really sucks Siiri.

But has anyone heard of the gun Siiri got?

Its a LRPV right port target action with a detachable mag.

Its a really nice looking firearm, I wish I had the cash to buy it.

Yes, I've seen them in stores. Not sure they are currently still selling them. The mag weakens the action, and the right port is not as convenient as the left port in my opinion. Other than that a nice gun.

I would return it. You have to get lucky sooner or later.

Haha yeah Siiri isn't taking Savages crap. I heard her on the phone when she left them a message. ;D

What where they thinking? Did they close their eyes and choose a random box and then ship it to Siiri?

Siiri this is a corprorate nightmare. However I would at least shoot it to see if it is better than you think. The cut out doesnt weaken it that much as all the stress is ahead of the mag well anyways. With the clip it makes it easy to load and unload as well. Think about this before you have to send it back. With the 1 in 12 you can shoot light to 80 grains or so.I shoot 68 match bullets out of a 1 in 14 and it is a lazer.

Only problem is we don't have anything to make bullets yet. Its going to be while until we do.

Siiri also payed for a more expensive gun.

Now that sucks even worse.I feel for you and her to have to put up with such great incompetance.Try dealing with the social security office in the states.I have been trying to reach them with a lawyer for 3 months and wont even answer her inquiries.Just a lesson in beaurocracy at its best and total incompetance at their office just like savage.

Siiri,
If you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all ??? If it were me I would send it back you don't have anything to shoot in it anyway and there is a big difference between a $850 gun and a $1200 that you paid for!! However let me tell you the capability of your LRPV, We have a LRPV in 6br 1:12 that shot under 1/2 moa out past 500 yds, we never papered it past that. Since buying it we put a 1:8 Krieger on it and punched it out to 6brx, My son has shot a 8.567" group at 1000 yds in 10 mph winds and it is capable of much better than that, we replaced the factory clip with a single shot ramp that goes in the clips place. The barrel is 28.25" long and with the muzzle brake it is close to 30" Shooting as well as it is I don't believe the action is flexing much, I hope this helps some and good luck to you Siiri.
Wayne.

I'd send it back. You should get what you paid for. Make sure shipping is on their coin both ways. I hope you can get everything worked out and you end up with a superb rifle. I'd ask them to make sure you get one of their best.
Sorry for your bad luck, and I hope Savage makes things right! This is unsat!

Makes me want to throw mine in the scrap pile for Jesse to rumage through...

Things must have changed at Savage Customer Service from when they supported everyday Iron Sight Shooters.

Siiri.........did the rifle come from the U.S. or from Savage Canada in Lakefield, Ontario? Ask your retailer who they are dealing with when they order Savage rifles. How many different people are involved in passing along your order? The screw-up may have happened before the order actually landed on Savage's door step.

Might help if you phone the Canadian factory. Talk to Barrie King. Contact info is

Rather than leaving them a scalding phone message change tactics and be as sweet as possible on the phone. You are not talking to the president of Savage just a $8 an hour flunky who could care less about your gun.If your the one nice call she receives today it may improve your chances of getting the right gun.

I was dealing with Canadian Savage directly, I'm not sure how many people it went thought, but I was dealing with Dave Myles for the most part and there maketing guy figured out the price and then after I started dealing with Mike Well when it came to the money. So I'm sure it went through a few people.
I will be giving Barrie a call since this is reduculious going on number 3 for problems.
Thanks!

I left a message for Dave Myles the guy that was supposed to make sure I didn't have any more problems.

Barrie King no longer works at Savage.

So I'm shipping the rifle back today and getting the one I ordered in a week or 2. Shipping is on them. Hopefuly there isn't a problem #4! They said that this mistake happened becuase the SKU numbers are just 2 numbers off.

Thanks everyone for your replies!

Savage generally make good guns, but they do some funny things too. In the LRPV they seem to switch back and forth between making them with a fluted and non-fluted barrel. But, they don't change the SKU so you never know what you will get until you take it out of the box.

On the mag fed LRPV (I have one) the great thing is that you can take the mag out when target shooting and if you don't opperate the bolt too fast the spent rds drop into a cute little pile under the mag well. I call mine a "drop port". Yes, its probably the next big thing in action design, you can send a check ASAP.. Also, I had the 1-12 before getting a few 1-8s, it shot the 68-80gr Bergers lights out. Liked the 69gr match FB the best. 1/4 moa at 100 all day long. Having an additional 3rd capacity if needed is a plus.

Siiri.....look on the bright side. The Canadian dollar might hit $1.05 U.S. today and your rifle might be all that much cheaper.

I know what you are going through. Had two F Class rifles made up this Winter. Got the 6.5mm Shilen barrel in one week and my `smith put it on the action in three days. Sent the action for a 6mm barrel to another `smith last Sept and I am still waiting. To be fair he makes his own barrels so I have to wait until he produces a batch of 6mm.

When it comes to precision target rifles sometimes you have to be mighty philisophical. Shortly you will have the rifle you want and all of this will become a dim memory.

Good Luck.
