458 win mag- -not a problem. Savage made them, you may even be able to buy a surplus Savage barrel from someone like Numrich. There used to be a guy in Flordia selling Savage barrels, but he sold out last year. Buy a used 110 in 7mmRM or 300 Winmag, pretty easy to find used), and screw a 458 mag barrel on, and you're golden, it will feed from the mag like a factory 458. Or, you could go a slightly harder route, and buy a 30-06, change the bolt head, mag and follower, and you're there. ,you need a barrel nut spanner, headspace gauges, etc. for the swap, or have a barrel mfg chamber one "nutless" for you.)
Savage made a 300RUMS in their standard 110 action for a year, then came out with the WSM/RUM barrel shank, which is a bit thicker. The standard 110 barrel shank measures 1.055", while the WSM/RUM barrel measures 1.120". Receiver OD is the same. Probably did it for a little more safety margin. Also, WSM/RUM's are CRF bolthead- -they are open at the bottom and have a standing ejector, rather than a recessed bolt head, and plunger type ejector. RUM actions are a bit hard to find at the moment, as they are not currently producing them. Probably best to consult with your barrel manufacturer if they would chamber a RUM for you on a std action, or keep your eyes open for a 7mmRUM, or 300RUM with the bigger shank. The barrel on a large shank RUM has a 1/16" step down just in front of the nut.
