Rebarrel Rem 788

Is there anything about Remingtons 788 action to be aware of for a rebarrel? Will the Kliendorst tool hold the lug like the 700?

Trigger removal? Anything not straight forward?

I`ve been asked to rebarrel one and am not to familiar

The ring is different diameter so a different head is needed for your wrench.
Not sure if the lug tool will work. I dont think so without modifying it. I would check mine but it is tied up right now. Put a witness mark on the existing lug before you break it down.
The tennon thread is relieved at the action screw location. You will see when you get the barrel off. Just copy it.

be sure your bolts do not bottom on the barrel where you relieve them as kendog states. T.R.
