Thanks for all of your input. I ordered the Viper Vortex 6.5x 20 from Midway. Reduced $100 to $329.

Vortex scopes have served me well, great optic , great price, great warranty.

I think the Vortex will be just fine. I have had good luck with the Nikon and Weaver budget scopes in the $250-350 dollar range as well.

B Very Careful of the B&L Their "Lifetime" Warranty is for the Lifetime of the Scope not your lifetime !!! I purchased two B&L 4000 new and had issues with one as it would not hold zero They told me that they had NO PARTS to fix it but were willing to give me a 50% discount on any current produced scope--Street price is usually 60% of retail--The 6.5 Leupold , 6-20 Weaver GS or 6-24 Sightron are within your range used.
