Rear spindle thread on import lathes

Butch,
Love your shop. Wish I'd bought a used clausing years ago instead of the jet. Hundreds of hours later I have it tuned up and doing good work but it will never be as smooth to operate. Eventually I'll probably get a monarch or something similar. Every shop needs 2 lathes.

2 lathes and 2 mills are handy. Nice not to have to break a setup.

I would love to get a mori seiki 850 or a Webb copy of one for a second lathe. It would make life easier for dam sure.

That's a nice rear spider! I just welded my rear spider to my second locking nut. Made it really easy, built the spider out of a 2" sch 80 coupling then cut out the threads and centered it on the outboard side, tack welded it in four spots, unscrewed it and welded it on the bench. Works perfect.
