Rear entry wrench

While over a friends shop, I used a rear entry wrench for the first time and liked it. I am a hobby tinkerer and work mainly on Mausers. I realize that this will not break loose a barrel that has been installed by a gorilla 90 years ago. It will make life easier when trying to index sights or if I get the headspace wrong.
Are all rear entry wrenches for 2 lug actions the same? Most raceways are .7" or so. The 2 lugs are across from each other (I realize a different wrench would be needed for a Browning, Weatherby MK5 ...). Will a wrench for a 700 work on a Mauser??

I have a Remington wrench and it works on most clones and customs, but it would not work in a 1903-A3, so I suspect it wouldn't in a Mauser, etc. As I recall, it was the lug track, not the cylindrical part of the raceway. Perhaps there is a one that is more generic, but mine does not.

A Remington wrench will work on a Mauser or p-14 but will not work for a Springfield or Model 70. The lugs are narrower on the latter two. WH

I have 4. Remington 700, Win 70, Tikka T3, and RPA Quad Lock. If I remember correctly ( not so easy these days...!!) the Win works on a Springfield, and the Rem works on Ruger 77's.

The main thing to be aware of when using any rear entry wrench is to be sure it exerts the force only in the front receiver ring of the action to avoid twisting the action body. This is especially true in older military actions that have generous cut aways in the rear portion of the action body for large magazines and stripper clips.

Also, don't use a wrench which puts pressure on any thin anti-bind rib. I have seen the rib on a Model 70 broken by the use of an inside wrench to install a barrel. Further to Jackie's admonition, I have seen a Remington 700 left side rail cracked when an inside wrench, which was bearing on the raceway, too far back, was used to remove a barrel. WH
