Rear bag question

I have a rifle that’s giving me a fit as far as being consistent. I don’t shoot competition but I shoot from a bench and prone at varying distances. The stock I bought for the build is the bergara hmr stock. I like the looks and the price I paid for it but can’t quite get used to the flat bottom or the hook that’s cut into it. What bag or bag type would best be suited for that stock ? I have a couple cheap squeeze bags and a cheapo allen rabbit ear bag. I can get comfortable with all of them but can’t swear the way the stock is made it’s not causing some issues with consistency esp the hook. I have shot hunting style rifles my whole life and never thought the angle or slant was a problem. Thanks menimage.jpg

A squeeze bag should work. You have to avoid changing your grip as the shot is fired.

What are you using for a front rest or bipod?

Got any recommendations ? My cheapos don’t really squeeze much at all for any adjustment

I just purchased a cheney elr air adjustable rear bag. Put the sand in myself and love it. Has a wide surface that stays firm and allows a sliding motion for left and right. I absolutely love the air bulb for up and down so that I dont have to manually squeeze and hold which i apparently am not good at.

What caliber? Bipods on a concrete bench can certainly cause flyers as can many other variables. A small cylindrical rear bag works well with this type of stock for me. Good luck and shoot straight.

If it will fit your shoulder/cheek weld and be consistent, place a rabbit eared rear bag on the back portion of the stock, not into the cut out/hook area and see if that does not work well for you.

The other bag I use is a TAB Gear

Armageddon mini game changer. It is very similar but maybe not quite as good as it was when it was a “dog gone good“ bag for those who remember. I still use my dog gone good bag every time I shoot with bipods
