Rear bag question

I didn't know what category to ask this question in so here it is.
What determines the height of the rabbit ear style bags for BR type shooting using a vertically adjustable front rest ?

The front rest height. The Caldwell BR won't go as low as a Sinclair competition rest for example, so it requires a taller bag to level the rifle.

I ordered a tall and a regular rear bag for my rock br rest and ended up using the regular one.... I did order a front bag to replace the Caldwell also... Couldn't be happier... All protektor leather bags , they are a super nice upgrade and worth every penny... The one I didn't use I simply didn't unwrap it to test height and sent it back to Amazon...

I shoot a Savage LRPV in the factory stock.
I called Protektor and asked what bag would best fit and they advised which one.
However, the angle on the rear of the stock caused the stock to contact the bag just on the rear 1/2 inch or so.
This caused the rifle to settle into the bag every shot even with the heavy sand.
I solved this by making a wedge for the bag to sit on with the correct angle so the stock contact is the full length of the bag.
I stuck 80 grit paper on both sides so the wedge and bag do not slide around.
Your stock to rear bag fit is important.

I thinks it will be some trial and error + preference unless there is a champion shooter using your exact stock so you can copy what works.

I agonized over it for weeks and I have tried a few. I like the taller bag with the taller ears. I think it is protektor 13b. It gets me more upright on the bench which is comfortable cuz im tall and it leaves room for mags that hang down when I am not single feeding.
