Rear bag material and specifically ears

Disclaimer - I’m a newb to benchrest, and F-Class... and will hopefully move over into F class, and finally Benchrest in the next or so...

I picked up a good front Rest, and am not looking at rear bags. (I have a SEB NEO Ratigan)

I have two proteckor rear bags, one is suede with Rabbit (long) ears - standard bag no hard bottom...
the second is a Proteckor heavy bottom leather bag with Cordura bunny ears.

My questions -

A) Silver ears... what the heck is that material ?
B) I’m thinking leather ears (not suede) is best ?

what’s a bit distracting - there is ALOT of talk about evenwood bags, and Lenzi bags...
My thoughts here are wait until I get a bench stock, and then order the bag to match the profile of the stock.

Thoughts ?

The silver fabric is a ‘slick’ self lubricating material. In theory needs no lube (such as bag wax, teflon powder, etc) although I still use a little teflon powder to reduce friction. I would wait on a rear bag until you know the width on the bottom of the butt and the profile so you can match the spacing.
