Rear bag info needed

Guys. I am new to benchrest shooting, but was told it is illegal to have a block of wood under your rear bag. Is that true? I have a tactical stock, and with the front rest I am using, I need another .75” - 1.5” higher rear bag for my rest to sit level. What are my options? Do not mind buying a new rear bag, but really do not have the funds to get a new front rest. Here is a shot of my set up that I am using. You can see the 2x6 block of wood under my rear bag makes the gun sit level in my set up.

I'm using the Caldwell Rock front rest and Caldwell rear bag.

Look at the Doctor model from Protektor. He could build you one with a thicker base. Or go to a leather shop/shoe repair store and get some thicker leather pieces glued up and add to the bottom of the one you have. Also, lower the feet on your rest just low enough that the legs don't touch.

So is leather acceptable, but a wood block is not? Is it just a wood thing? What if I took another substance, and placed it under the bag? or does it need to be fixed or attached to the bag?

The reason tge feet are adjusted higher is I really only need 3/4' and he 2x6 block is 1.5' so I have the feet screwed up approx 3/4'. OPtimially, I would have a 1' 'SOMETHING' under my bag and that would give me enough cushion for any table height.

Can that donut be filled with 3/4' of sand so that it raises my bag? or will that Tru-Kote rubber spacer thing work better for what I need even though I do not have their bag? What if I was to coat that block of wood with a rubber coating,like the rhino liners in your pick up bed)?

what I'm really looking for is just a spacer about 3/4' so that my rear bag in a tad bit higher.

Wow. That's about 1.5 inches of wood back there. Protector has some bags that are higher than what yours appears to be. If you decide to go that route be careful of which ears you get as the width of your butt stock dictates which is right for your rifle. I also noticed that you have a lot of leg showing under your front rest. You can bring those up a bit. You don't want those to protrude too far through the rest anyway. Is the Caldwell a high front rest? Wood spacers can't be used in comp. but the donut can be and it adds about .75 inches. It really isn't that big of a deal to make your own donut if you are the least bit capable of acquiring leather and if you can use contact cement. I am proof that it is easy enough. If you can, you can make the donut as high as you need The nice thing about the donut is that it sits solidly on the bench, doesn't slide around, and takes the rocking action out of a sand bag that develops a rocking action. Strangely, or maybe not so strangely, the donut can be used but you can't be sewn or attached it to your bag, depending on which organization is sanctioning the match..
I don't know who gunamonth is but he is absolutely correct about reticle and reticule. Too bad IBS doesn't see it as Webster-Thorndike does.
