Reamers PT&G vs JGS vs Manson vs Clymer

Quality / Consistency / Customer Service / Price / Reputation / Availability

Reamers, which do you use / prefer and why or is it like splitting a hair? Can’t go wrong with either?

Last time I ordered anything from PTG was 10 years ago, a reamer and go gage. Reamer was fine, go gage was for the wrong cartridge but labeled to match the reamer. Cost me a bunch of money once we figured out why my fired brass was so screwed up. Dave was made aware of the problem and additional costs due to his companies mistake. No apologies were ever received and no offer to cover my costs for his screw up. My theory, there are two types of PTG customers, those that have been screwed over, and those that will be. I now only use Manson and have had nothing but excellent service.

Agree 100% with Earnhardt!
I started buying reamers from Dave in the mid 80's when he was running Clymer, have never had a problem with his tools, I don't know anyone that has had a problem with his tools!
I do have a few reamers from JGS from the early 80's , well made no problems.

Have two from Dave Manson . One is a custom job to create a special chambering for a 7.62 x 54r cartridge to shoot .308 bullets . Dave worked with me and my Smith , Dave Fair till we got it right . For me after that kind of customer service and being involved in the customers goals , it's Manson .

Manson, JGS and dont look back.
I used to really like PTG but after Kathleen hit the dusty trail the place isnt the same.
Pity that , I liked Dave.
