I've been pulling the reamer out of a turning barrel for fifty years, never have seen any problem. Having said that, it sounds to me like the margin on the cutting edge is wrong. It happens, more with some makers than others. WH

Same. Even when not using a pressure system, once it's turning I don't shut it off until it's close enough to start checking headspace. Back off the tailstock spindle a hair, loosen tailstock and pull the tailstock/reamer back, blow out the barrel, double check for remnant chips in chamber, clean reamer and go back in. Carriage is locked down to provide a repeatable stop for the tailstock. Repeat as necessary.
I’ll add that I’d think it would be a bad idea to stop the lathe with the reamer engaged.

There's a hundred ways to do it, Find the one that works best for you and tweak things to your liking as you go.

By chance is it a Carbide Reamer?
Out of all my reamers, Only one of them is carbide
And that is the only one that "GRABS" when it cuts
The other HSS reamers, cut like theyre going into butter,
I cannot even tell they are cutting anything , they simply go in smoothly.

You may look into the spindle speeds used for carbide reamers and experiment with that possibly
since perhaps your reamer could be ground like a carbide?
I read somewhere that one reason Manson reamers cut so well is they use their own special cut geometry as well as different relief angles which provide smooth easy cutting. I can vouch for that.

Incorrect margins is a good possibility I had a similar issue on a 22-250ai. After fighting it on the first chamber I sent the reamer back. They said they changed the margins. Reamer worked as it should afterwords

Unfortunately, it's probably a PTG reamer problem. Of which there are many. Finish your chamber and send it back. Then go Manson or JGS for your reamers, and life will be good again.
When you pull the reamer out as the chuck is stopping, are you getting a ring or any other issues? Also have you looked at the whole reamer with a jewelers loop? Sometimes the smallest speck of "fly shit" can cause a huge headache. In place of an old penny you can try a super fine small stone but definitely use a jewelers loop or magnifying headset. With a stone instead of the penny you can hurt a reamer very easily
No rings in the chamber. I’m going to try the penny this evening and if that doesn’t help I’m going to call PT&G

I can almost promise, if you look closely, you can tell the cutting edge is lower than the rear of the margin. At best, it's on the same level. The result is a reamer which acts dull. This is kind of a compounding problem; the reamer doesn't cut well, which causes the surface of the chamber to work-harden, which makes the reamer cut even worse. Good luck! WH

I had a brand new PTG 7x57 reamer like this that literally wouldn’t cut at all. I’d start pushing on it and nothing! Not a single chip. That was the first of my many problems with PTG that led me to never using them again.
How long ago was that? I am trying to pin down exactly when this started happening there? It has been at least 9 years that I can find.
I guess they have some large contracts, But if it's messed up for the little guy, I would say the big guys are getting bad service and messed up parts too, How much longer can they stay in business like this?

That was probably around 2010. It was large contract reamer from Midway. About 5 years later I had a major issue with them that is too long to write up and 100% their fault. Then they sent me another persons order that I had no idea who they were. A couple years ago two friends and myself decided to try Blake’s 7FCP cartridge for F class. He has package deals, reamer, dies and barrel. Unfortunately they came with PTG reamers. We got 2 reamers. One cuts pretty nice the other sucks. Same exact reamer.. I’ve had a few other bad dealings with them but it just gives me a headache thinking about all of again. I know some guys have good luck with them but believe all the bad you read about them too. Never had a bad experience w JGS..

I've bought several PTG reamers and not had any trouble. However, I bought then simply as objects of opportunity, and they've all been for very bland, common cartridges.
I can say when I ordered directly from PTG for certain things, the delivery window was way off. Always late.
