Here are some pictures of some reamers I have here. I'll start with a new HSS one. This area is the unused portion of the leade.

Here's from the same reamer. The end of the neck and throat I should have retired this one sooner than I did. This is the end of the neck and throat. You can see the transition from the worn leade to the unused section.

These are pictures from a consulting job I had that resulted in me fixing a lot of rifles. Considering the end user I call this work criminal.

Every transition from machined area to virgin barrel will have some kind of metal flashing along that edge. The goal is to minimize that flashing as well as end up with as smooth a finish as possible.
