Reamer makers

Is there reamer maker that makes good reamers that might have less than a 12 to 16 week lead time? I know, if they are good they probably have a waiting list. :)
Planning on having JGS or Manson make reamer, but thought I would ask and see if there was anyone that might have less than 12 to 16 week lead time.

It's nothing exotic, Lapua .220 Russian necked up to .30 cal. & neck turned just enough to be able to make all case necks uniform. Next week should have everything to make dummy round to send in. Still need to figure out neck dia, throat, leade & freebore.

Actually I'll be asking some recommendations for these dimensions shortly.

And yes this is pretty much a 7.62x39 .30 cal. Reason for using Lapua .220 Russian brass and necking up, is I want Lapua brass and Lapua 7.62x39 brass have LR primer pockets and I want SR primer pockets. Not for accuracy or ES, but to have stronger case head for more reloads of cases.
The only real difference between .220 R and 7.62x39 is the base to shoulder length of 1.066 for .220 R vs 7.62x39 1.201.
Don't want deal with fireforming the .220 R just to gain tiny bit of capacity.
Using PMA Tools 22- 6mm and 6mm- .30 expander dies. Waiting for expander dies to get here in few days to expand bunch of cases and measuring neck thicknesses to determine minimum amount needed to be turned down to uniform all Lapua .220 R cases.
Neil Jones will build set of dies.

I looked at 30 Major and would went with it except I’m building a Ruger Mini 30 rifle.
Krieger SS cut rifling barrel, adjustable gas block/accustrut, custom walnut stock and few other things.
Will have a classic M14ish look, using modified M14 gas lock front sight dovetail with gas lock part turned off.

The M30 magazines don’t feed the fairly straight bodied 6.5 Grendel & 30 Major shaped cases. Magazines are curved to feed the tapered 7.62x39 rounds. It feeds those like a champ.

Got Lapua .220 R brass, expanders ect for .308x39.

Realistically I’ll end up having JGS or Manson make the reamer, the barrel will take as long to get here anyway.

Cheers, Allen

My last PTG order (500 Jeffery resize and rougher) took 7 months. I had the finisher, just wanted to complete the set. This was last summer.

Manson? I would buy Manson but I have a lot of pilot bushings for PTG reamers, they also fit JGS reamers.

If Manson would use screws instead of the C rings to retain bushings they would sell more reamers.

Agree on the clips. I have 1 manson "grizzly rod" I use to test pilot fit... and it's a real pain in the ass to swap that clip several times to find the right pilot.

I'm told JGS holds tighter tolerances... but anecdotally, I feel like Manson's give a nicer cut.

Yes Manson, and yeah, the C Clip is not the best concept for retaining the bushing.

i thought manson bushings would interchange with jgs-clymer-ptg—- ??

Manson holds diameters to +0.001. JGS holds to the SAAMI spec of +0.0005. Sometimes it makes a difference.
I ground a notch in the end of a screw driver to push the c-clips off. Makes it very easy to change bushings.

I shortened mine to the groove and tapped the end for a screw.

Yes manson reamers take the same bushings. All my reamers lately have been manson, they come way, way faster than they quote, and every one has cut like a razor blade thru paper and cut on every flute. They are a pleasure to use
thanks for that info

On the other side of the Atlantic :

they can produce a custom reamer in 2 weeks. There might be more delays in waiting for their export paperwork though.
they Are the same people who were making Border barrels for Accuracy international before they sold out the business.
