Reamer freebore and fat barrels and skinny barrels change length?

I use the same reamer to cut my chambers. I just cut a barrel and the after checking the OAL with my bullets the OAL is about 15 thou longer than typical. The barrel has very small lands?

As long as the diameter at the top is the lands is the same, it wouldn’t make any difference.

Now as to how you might be measuring it, quite possibly.

It *might* make a difference in how you come up with your seating depth which in turn determines your COAL.

There *will* be a difference in any two chambers. Regardless of how much you try to make them identical.

But, any difference due to the narrow lands shouldn’t add up to 15 thou.

The diameter of the lands determines where the leade ends. Shallow grooves will make for a shorter leade.

Its normal to see some variation in base to ogive lengths in different make barrels. Its usually very consistent if you always use the same barrel make.
