Reamer/Bore Size Question

Can this reamer be used on a .300 bore? How does it affect the freebore measurement? Any other affects?

I would assume it's has a removable pilot. If so just make sure the bushing is smaller. than the bore diameter. As far as your question about the freebore, it's ground into the reamer and can't change.

Dave has seen many more reamer prints than me...so why do read it as a solid pilot reamer with a .298 pilot (highlignted yellow)?

.298 would be "loose" on a quality .300 groove barrel IMO.

Guys, it is a removable pilot. But the print also states .298 bore. I hope this helps. Thanks for the help.

That reamer print may have been spec'd out specifically for a tight bore , .2980", barrel. If you already have the reamer and it has .2980" bushing just get another bushing. I run mine .0002-.0005" under bore diameter. I have complete faith in my barrel setup and know I don't need a close fitting bushing for alignment.
If you don't have the reamer yet just ask for a different size bushing when you order it. .

Thanks for answering my questions Dave. I bought a used rifle here on AS and it came with reamer and custom Whidden die to go with it. I want to stick with it for obvious reasons. I don't want or need a tight bore barrel. I am not a gunsmith, just a shooter with a barrel blank, a reamer, and an action in search of a gunsmith. Thanks again, I feel a lot more confident now.
