Reamer and die for 243 AI

I recently bought a new Rem 700 BDL in 243. The wood is beautiful and I was very surprised with the fit and finish so here I am. I called a couple of local smiths to true the action, bed the stock and change the barrel to a 243 AI but they were all 15 weeks out. So I figured this would be a great time to step up my own skills. I have read alot on here for years as well as watching dozens of great videos by talented people.
A friend of mine has been a machinist for 30 years he has some very nice equipment. I have done alot of basic stuff to my own guns for years but I have never taken off a barrel myself.
My plan is to true the action and change the barrel to a 243 AI. I will buy a action wrench and go/no go gages myself.
I would like to rent a 243 AI reamer and buy a matching set of dies. He is going to do the machining with the help from one of his friends (I don't know the friend) that was a smith until his shop burnt down.
Where do I rent the reamer and get matching dies and gages?

Thanks

I would make sure you get the dies first. Many of the dies you see are 243 Win Impr 40deg. Some of the measurements are actually different. If you notice when you see the ads they will say this on the die box but they will say Ackley in the Ad. If it isn't on the Box it probably isn't a true Ackley. The 243AI dies are some of the harder ones to find. The Win Dies will oversize the brass and extra .005 at the shoulder and I believe maybe another place.
I'm sure some people are running them and will argue it but I have been through this. When you size with the dies it will make your brass grow longer. Your other option would be to get the reamer to match the Win dies.

I really hope you have a lot more 700 action and bolt tools than you seem to indicate. A chamber reamer and a barrel vice are the least of your worries. If you intend to do a real an actual truing job on a 700 action.

At this time I do not have all of the tools I need. I am researching to see if this is something I would like to learn. With a 15 week wait for a so so local smith I think I may move forward with buying the needed tools.
