Maybe you want to move just because you have lived there forever, or perhaps it's because of the firearms rules/laws now where you are that have taken away your way of life.
As an old fart who has watched this unfold for over sixty years now, i can tell you very simply that you probably are going to encounter the same problems where you are going in about ten years. Running from stupidity doesn't stop it, it only gives you a chance to catch your breath and then it's where you are again.

Ask any old guy and they will tell you how good it was when they were younger. The only way to fight stupidity is with knowledge, and if you aren't willing to do that then you get exactly where we are now as a nation.

In many places it's not the stupidity we want to get away from...it's the shear population numbers. Example: in the communist liberal democrat state of Maryland, three counties decide elections, Baltimore, Howard and Prince Georges...in fact, if every normal person voted five times we still cannot outnumber them. "Them" wont follow me to the mountains of West Virginia!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I agree with every word of every post on here, but trying to educate or fight the general population of a place like Baltimore that "free stuff" promised at every election isn't really free is utterly futile. "Those people" will have their free stuff or they will riot and loot to take it.

I fled the political corruption in California over two decades ago, coming to Texas where it was less prevalent. But big money followed us here, and now it's almost as corrupt as the place we abandoned.

Corruption of politics by the ultra rich is at the heart of the problem. Why would some fat cat, somewhere in America give millions to a PAC to take away your health care? Or disband your labor union? Or taint your water supply? Or ensure no Federal minimum wage increase is passed?

Why do those few with a decadent abundance, actively seek to prevent the many with barely enough to survive from getting just a little more? What kind of person endeavors to destroy the lives of his or her fellow Americans, just for sport? And why does their sinister tendencies get more political traction than the overwhelming needs of the populace? Why do they react with glee as we 'commoners' blame each other and our respective political parties for something they've carefully engineered and financed?

You may run from political corruption, but eventually it'll catch up with you. The only way to stop it, is to first recognise that many of our closely held views are the result of years of corrupt disinformation campaigns, and then actively work to end the corruption and its influence on elected officials.

Seems like, even if you want too move from your present state and how it is going, others are following the same pattern. i.e. Oregon, NV, Colo,, Wash, Ca. just too name a few. So find area in the state you are at and enjoy what you can, while you can.

I bought a house in Texas last year and established residency. My old state of Delaware is 90% Democrat and Joe Biden lives about 5 miles down the road. Delaware charged me 9% state income tax for the “pleasure”!
Texas has NO state income tax and I’m surrounded by Republicans in my new little home town of Kerrville.
I just wanted to live out my last years surrounded by like minded people. Will it last? Maybe, maybe not?
I’m still saving 9% on my income!
