real world expectations from bergara b14 and vudoo 22lr

With the right lot of ammo 1/2 moa is possible. How much ammo do you have to test to get that kind of accuracy? And then, you may never find the right lot.

I don’t expect that I will be shooting competitive 22lr because I would go broke testing ammo.

To the op, here is a link that I posted that chronicles my experience with my Vudoo. Most days I do ok shooting from the bench and use wind flags. 100 yards outside with a 22lr is an awakening experience. There are some informative replies in the thread from top 22lr shooters. Good luck with your purchase.

Yeah i guess i am lucky have 4 different lots of sk std that shoots roughly the same. I have not had to chase ammo down the rabbit hole yet out of all the ammo i have shot sk and lapua branded ammo shoot poa poi hardly see a difference untill 150 yards

Not my groups but was shot at a match I was at. This is a 10-shot group at 100 yards. Shot with a CZ 457 varmint with a Harrel tuner and custom trigger. We shot 5 targets and all of his looked similar. Groups were not measured as we were shooting for score. I have several CZ rifles but none shoot like this.

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd add my results at 100 with my Vudoo 360 repeater. I shot (5) groups of (5) shots in a 100 yard tunnel and my average was in the .5"s for all (5) groups. It was awhile back so I can't remember the exact number, but mid .5"s. This was while lot testing RWS50. Needless to say I bought as many bricks as was available at that time. I use this ammo for bench rested long range silhouette competitions. I found it only shoots in the .3"s at 50. I have Eley Match and Lapua Midas + that do mid .2's at 50 that I use in ARA unlimited shooting. My Vudoo has a 26" Shilen Select Match barrel.

delving into the 22 long range world. assuming i would be using quality ammo that has been matched to the gun,, and by that i mean, making a trip to lapua and seeing if they will do their usual test. speaking of which,, will they only test their ammo?
i am reasonably proficient, i reload and have some custom precision rifles, prs or hunting style, i don't do any bench rest, i consider myself a sub moa shooter in untimed, easy positons like prone or bench but generally cannot outshoot my rifles probably.
so anyway, been reading and reading and reading,, the bergara b14 comes with a steel barrel and carbon barrel. has anyone on here noticed anything effectively different in groups between the 2?
i'm not super serious about the 22lr thing and will probably be a passing fad for me but i do have a 5000 rd case of older prime subsonic 22lr ammo which was made by ruag. if i could get 1/2 moa out of it in a 22lr set up,, my son and nephew could have fun with it.
am i being unreasonably optimistic?
i don't mind spending a bit more for a vudoo setup if it is worth it,, speaking of which, is there a big difference between the gen 1 and gen 2 vudoo stuff
i am almost defintely going to keep my eye out for a used setup, prefer something turn key that i only need to put on an optic. i happen to have a zco 427 that is currently lonely so will probaby use that. i'm not in a hurry. appreciate any input.
i have found a unbarreled b14 carbon and a nice krg chassis but then it turns into a project and i won't get around to it but i guess i could make it work.
Buy the Vudoo if your shooting needs a magazine fed gun (PRS22, NRL22, etc). If shooting SLOW, get a 2500X based Benchrest set up. Nobody shooting these setups are looking to move up. Those folks aren't trying to make a silk purse from a pig's ear by continuing to modify their gun to get it where the top tier is. NOW, this is not a slam against any gun that any folks got. Everyone plays this game where their pocketbooks place them. But if you want to start at the top, it's a pretty simple path. Not cheap by any means, but simple. And, if the cost of a top tier rifle hasn't stopped your heart yet, not to worry. Wait till you see what the glass is going to cost :>)

hi tact
just noticed your post because i signed on to post a WTB thread. anyway, i wound up buying a gently used gen 2 vudoo and had it tunnel tested at lapua facility in mesa. it is very fun to shoot with a tbac suppressor but i don't shoot it that much. obviously, this thread is rather old. i put an NF atacr 5-25 i had laying around, which is plenty of scope for my skills.
