Folks:

Jim Zumbo has stuck his foot deeply in his own mouth. He has violated the first rule of gun writing, in saying AR type rifles don't have a place in hunting. Obviously the heat has gotten so intense that he has made a retraction. No matter the damage has been done.

I have 3 separate postings in the blog...2 under the original brain fart and one under the 'apology'. While I personally don't own an AR style firearm nor would I use one in hunting, I certainly reserve the right to do so if the law allows for it.
That a hunter with such a high profile would say such things is just despicable. It gives Outdoor Life a black eye as well as Remington Arms. The Brady Campaign has been all over this since it came out. This is the greatest thing since scrambled eggs in their view. The number of postings to Zumbo in response to his writing is astounding. There are thousands, some sane, some not. 99%+ want the man's head on a pike and rightly so. Nowhere does the Second Amendment tell us that any given firearm only has a given use. That someone of his,former) stature should say that a weapon should be banned...well, it's just appalling. Worse, in his apology he admits he may have fired one...ONCE.

This is the type of person that would do away with our long range weapons as well. I'd urge all to go and read what he said, read a sample of the replies and perhaps leave one of your own as well. It's just awful and puts us all at risk. -Rod-

Maybe Zumbo hunted in Pennsylvania all his life. Here, no semi auto rifles are ever allowed for hunting, not even a rimfire. Ruger can't give away 10/22's in this state. In those states that do allow hunting with AR's, they should be permitted for small game, but deer shot with .223 caliber is askin for trouble.

I'm glad that shooters stuck together on this one. If you are depending on this industry for an income, then you make a derogatory statement, there will be consequences. We need to stick together like this on other issues and send Sarah Brady and her following packing.

I have contacted Remington Arms.

Their last paragraph "regret.........! There should be "no regret" in their disassociation with DUMBO!

If they, REMINGTON ARMS, does not unequivocally disassociate with DUMBO, and NOT regrettably, I will disassociate from Remington Arms PERMANENTLY.
