Guys,

We use an ad server that displays/rotates our banner ads. In return for this service, they take 7% of our inventory. Over the past year this has worked pretty well, and it means we don't have to spend time,and a lot of money) to maintain our own ad server. We could lose as much as 25% of our revenue paying for ad delivery otherwise.

However, recently some ads have been appearing,in that 7% share we don't control) that say things like "Your computer has an error". These are BS ads designed to sell software you DON'T need. We have sent very stern protests to our ad server, and demanded, in the most emphatic way possible, to remove such ads from the mix.

Hopefully the problem ads will disappear soon. In the meantime, DO NOT click on those "Computer Error" or "Virus check now" banner ads.

You won't find any BS ads among our real sponsors.

In the meantime, I'm looking for a third party ad server solution that is affordable, but would eliminate those obnoxious ads.

If you see a bad ad, please ignore it. Better yet, hit the "refresh button". That will reload a new advert, almost always one of the gun-related sponsors.

edit: I can even help you install it... it will require it's own MySQL table though.

I'd like to find out what you're using. I've pursued other third-party ad server solutions and they charge pretty high fees. I don't want to maintain a separate computer just to serve the ads.

That is the advantage of a third party host--the system works very fast, is backed-up, and I don't have to buy/lease machines etc.

It's 100% free, you install it onto the space where you site is, make a database there, and then configure advertisers and banners. It even gives you the code to place in the HTML/PHP files,any page or template you want, as many ad you want). Your advertisers can even host their own banners, and just give you the URL to their banners, that way they can change them to reflects specials or new products without you acting as middle-man.

It's a bit overkill for my site with four sponsors, but it was pretty easy to install for me.

It looks like it's worth checking out. Jim, the images for the site are hosted by Yahoo, on the accurateshooter.net domain. Are you saying I can just upload this software to Yahoo,domain hoster)? Or do I need my own server machine?
