You may have noticed some Google text ads just started appearing on the right. There is an interesting story behind this. 2 1/2 years ago I tried to sign up for the Google Adsense program and was denied because of gun-related content. Same result last year. But recently I noted that Google Ads were appearing all over the ChuckHawks.com firearms pages. I also noted that, after Chuck placed those ads, his Google search engine results jumped.
Being finally approved for Google is an important step for the site. The revenue isn't very much,under $10.00 per day), but the presence of the Google ads can help:
1. Keep the user classifieds FREE
2. Increase awareness of the site via enhanced Google placement
3. Defray Forum bandwidth cost. Forum traffic has more than doubled this past year, and my server costs have actually tripled.
Personally, I found some cool stuff in the ads, including a Source for discount Nosler bullets, and some nice gun cases.
