After receiving several informative replies to my request for assistance with fire forming cartridges, I decided to save a few $$ and forgo using bullets and try the cow method. One problem; I don't have a detailed explanation of the process. Yesterday I made my way to the farmer across the road and talked him into letting me borrow a cow for a week or two. problem is, I have no idea how a cow is going to help me fire form brass.

Getting up at 5:30 to milk the damn thing is going to get old very quick, so I would like to get the brass formed and return her as quickly as possible so please let me know!

Is this a joke? do you not know COW is Cream of Wheat? I use Red Dot powder as it burns with less pressure than other fast powders. The charge is dependent on case size. To blow the necks out on 30-06 I remember about 12grs. with a piece of tissue paper on top, then fill with COW, then another piece of tissue on the top.

Was you shooting a 6mmAI or was that someone else? if not what case are you trying to form? it will matter on how much powder you use. Cattle are heard animals and are not happy being by themselves so lets get your cases done so we can return her, Butch you can't milk a bull or at least it isn't advisable so he would have to shoot her not him LOL

Well if she was a first calf heifer she would have milk but then technically she would at that point be a cow so I guess Butch was right all along,....just SHOOT THE COW!

Yes, I was joking, just thought everyone could use a little humor to start the week. Wayne was correct, the cartridge is a 6mm AI.
