re-finishing 700 action

I want to re-finish my Remington 700 action. What is the best way to remove the matt black finish? What would you recommend I re-coat it with?
 
Sandblasting and manganese phosphate. There are few finishes, if done correctly, that provide better corrosion resistance and durability.
 
A big ole Baldor buffer will make short work of that finish.....
Lots of things to coat it with, just decide what you like the best.....
