Re-chambering a barrel

I have a Criterion barrel chambered in 308 Win, can it be re-chambered to 30-06 without having to cut off the threads?

I will look into that to see if a gunsmith in my area will do it, thanks

You would need the prints and do some math, but a 30-06 AI might be big enough at the 308 shoulder to clean up the chamber.

For example. I've taken a 25-06 barrel and turned it into a 257 roberts. Just need to set it back a little and do the math between the two to see where things intersect and clean up. All things being concentric of course.

Other option, go with a larger cased 30 cartridge, or sell the barrel.

I have a 6.5 cm proof carbon barrel that I was planning to punch out to 6.5 SAUM. My Smith said no problem

Sorry guys, I just looked at my original post and I forgot to mention it’s a Savage and you know they start to taper towards the muzzle at the very last thread
