re barrel question

i recently received a rifle from a friend who had a "gun plumber" rebarrel a win 70 in 264 wm. he has shot this round for many years and have always reloaded his own ammo. after getting the new barrel back, and firing a few rounds thru it, he cannot run the brass thru his reloading die. it just wont go all the way down. about halfway or so before it becomes so tight that he is worried it will get stuck. (yes he used lube) old fired brass from the factory barrel still runs thru the die just fine. the barrel was shown to me that it will close on a go gauge, and will not close on the no go gauge. all factory rounds will close just fine and open just fine either non fired or fired.

my question is, what would cause that.

TIA for any info.

Matt

Large reamer , set up out of normal giving larger chamber or its just a reamer with longer belt to shoulder . I would try another set of dies . All belted mags use the belt as the no go /go gauge not the datum of shoulder . So it can be withing specs just long , if it's wide or out of round it will not show up on headspace gauges

I would also add to try Imperial resizing lube and measure the fired case above the belt at 90 deg ( 2 measurements ) and the shoulder doing the same . Compare to old case ( fired ) might as well try measuring length also and let us know .

Sounds like a big chamber and/or a small die. Measure the fired brass in a few places and compare to unfired and see where it's big and by how much.

^^^^ This will tell you what isn't adding up. Compare before and after....you can even throw in a third and measure one of his other cases after it's been ran through the die.

Come on man , we want updates.

I want to know if its a chamber issue or a brass issue.
I cant get my head around brass getting stuck, 100% of my stuck cases were lube issues. Mostly back when I thought 1 shot was a lubricant.
