Re#25 vs 80gr VLD in 22-250AI

Yesterday I was pushing 80gr A-max bullets with 42.5grs of Re#22. Where would I start with Re#25? Or is that powder to slow for 80 gr bullets?

My 2 cents....

I think RE-25 would be too slow, slower than you need on burn rate)for your application. As a result, you MV would be low.

For the powder cap you are talking, and w/ 80s; I'd think your powder choice would be closer to AA3100 and RE-22.

Also, with these slow powders, be sure to give primer like
FED LR Magnum Match a try.

Best of luck in your endeavors.

Ok I got it Sierra manual gives a starting point. Maybe IMR 7828 might be worth a try. I wonder where would I start with that?

Sorry for the delay in responding....

Let's talk about AA3100:
My 22-35 wildcat shot great w/ 40.5gr AA3100 under Hornady
75 'V'-Max; and FED LR Match.

You should be cautious in your loading, and start around 39.5gr
AA3100; then go up in .1gr increments. Do one shot at each .1gr increment, until things like excess primer flatness and sticky bolt lift become apparent. Back off from use of any such excess powder charge, and start group tesing with loads having ok presure signs.

I7828 is wayyy to slow for your application.
You could probably fill the case w/ I7828, and not reach max pressure limit. But vel would be too slow.
You'll wanna go with powders in the burn rate range of
VV560 - 4831 - RL-22.
