Re 23 and Re 25 Loads in the .270 Win.

I realize that IMR 4350 (or H4350) and H4831 are the classic powders for the .270 Win. However, after playing with QuickLOAD, I find that better velocities are available with the slightly-slower Alliant powders Re 23 and Re 25 (particularly the latter).

What have your experiences been with these two powders (and also Re 26, which looks good in the .270 Win.)?

I maybe old and a little infirm, but have spent a life time with a 270 Winchester. Have 3; a Winchester, Sako, and a Colt Saure. They are all hunting rifles, so when I find a combination that works, I don't try to fix it. Have preped Winchester cases, Federal GM primers, and H4831, and all my rifles shoot to my satisfaction. Guess I don't known your application, but the powders listed seem a little on the slow side for the 270. Have fun, good luck, and I hope you prove me wrong.

I would guess it largely depends upon bullet weight. I have found that heavier bullet weights tend to benefit from a little slower powder. In addition, i would guess that barrel length plays into it.
