Robert,

Or any of you guys who are shooting this case, are you getting any case seperation?? I am using WW brass and have started to get case seperation right where the 6XC case stops resizing the 243 case. I am on the 4th firing of the case and have noticed rings around some of the cases and can feel a detent on the inside of the case.

I have had two cases rupture there now and have thrown away about a forth of this batch of cases due to the ring.

Is this being caused by the die not fully risizing the case and maybe working that area to much?? Would a full length custom die correct this problem??? I hate to spend a $115 on a die then still have the same problem.

I am not loading the case to hot. I am using 46 or 46.5grs of H1000 with a 105 Lapua. Thanks!!!!!

sounds to me like your shoulder is being pushed back too far when you are re sizeing the case. if you have accsess to a lathe you can make a guage to check length of your casses from the head to the shoulder. It would look like a shoulder bump/neck bushing. hope this helps. _________treeman

Treeman,
I can do that and I checked it. A fired case is .005 longer than a resized case. Is this to much to be setting it back?? I just remembered that Robert used a .125 shim under his die and I am using a .120 under mine. If the .005 set back is to much this may be my problem. I could correct it by backing my die off and readjusting it. Thanks!!!

Setting back the shoulder 5 thousands is WAY too much!
Readjust your dies to give yourself about one .0005 to .001 shoulder setback, and the brass will last a long time.
Throw away those cases that already show signs of pending case separation.

Thanks guys!! Appreciate the info. I just never thought about the .005 difference in thickness of the washer until I started having problems. I had remembered that Robert said he was getting good case life out of his cases so I was concerned that something must be wrong with my set up.

After reading treemans post I was lucky enough to have the Tubb dies which has a sleeve made to measure the shoulder set back so it was an easy check. I measured a fired case and then a resized case and .005 difference in length. Thanks agian guys!!
