I have been considering a progressive press recently for 223 and pistol ammo. I was considering the Dillion 550C. Seems like there may be several weeks before delivery. So today I was told about a local guy that had some reloading equipment he wanted to sell. The deal was buy all or nothing. Long story short I now own a almost new RCBS turret press. Big difference from the Dillon Progressive but considering I have no experience with ether maybe this will be fine.
So any of you own a RCBS turret press? What are the pros and cons?
Thanks

I own one and several heads. I do not use it as a progressive, I have dies set up in each head so that changing the head is all I need to do. I have them set up with 3 different cartridges with the FL/Seating dies side by side.
I batch load, so all the cases get sized, then charged, then bullet seating. I can do 100 cases in just over an hour.
I tried the progressive thing with it, but it was slow due to not self indexing, the batch mode is faster.
I also get very consistent ammo, even though the turret heads do move when sizing and seating, it’s not enough to induce runout.

Cheers.

I just got it mounted to a plywood plate that I drilled to fit on to my T trak on my bench. I think I will set it up to swedge 223/556 and maybe set up my 2ed head to do pistol ammo. I don't normally shoot/load pistol but I have in the past and I seem to be over run with pistol components. But I will still resize and seat on my Forster.
I can see where it will fit in. Its not what I had in mind when I was considering the Dillion but it will get plenty of use.

I'm not sure how well a turret press would work for primer pocket swaging. Maybe it's just me, but I think I'd find another way. I personally use the Dillon Super Swage; RCBS makes a lower priced copy of it, too. I sold my old press mounted RCBS Primer Pocket Swager once I bought the Dillon.

A RCBS primer pocket swager die came with the deal. I am going to try it out after I get some brass tumbled. In the past I chamfered them but its a slow process.
I may end up selling the whole rig. With all of the accessories I should get 1/2 the cost of the Dillon set up I had planed on getting.
