RCBS Seat Die Differences

I borrowed my old man’s .223 Rem die set the other day. I opened the box, and there are two seat dies. He can’t remember the difference, wondering if the collective intelligence of the forums know. One is marked “RCBS 223 Rem Seat 12” and the other is “RCBS 223 REM Seat 13”. Any ideas? If the question has already been answered or is on the RCBS website, my Google-fu must be fading.

I’m not familiar with RCBS dies but, I’m thinking the difference is a Reference to the ogive of the bullets to be seated. Tangent ogive versus VLS ogive have different slope to bullet. Using the correct seating stem for your chosen bullet provides more uniform contact between the stem and the bullet nose (ogive). This prevents “line/edge” contact that leaves a small ring/mark on the bullet nose. Also provides more consistent seating depth.
