RCBS Rockchucker Supreme vs. Forster Co-Ax

I have had a Coax for many years that I use for my long range stuff and a Dillon for my pistol rounds. I decided I would like another press for decapping and bullet pulling etc. I got a rock chucker supreme and I don't like it so much. Its a pain in the rear to use dies in one press and then have to take off the lock ring and reset it for the other press. I really love my coax but I recently got one of those grip-n-pull bullet pullers and that is only thing I have found that will not work on a coax press. I second the notion that you may be going backwards. The coax is so much easier and convenient to use especially if you change dies a lot. FWIW, I don't care for that pullet puller either. It is too easy to leave marks on the bullet.
I was looking at those bullet pullers ,now I have changed my mind. What puller would you suggest. (I hate the hammers)

Ive had a co-ax for 10 years now...got probably 20k+ reloads through it and its going strong. I have ZERO complaints with it and don't regret buying it new for $200. I never planned on shooting or owning tall magnums so its been great. Over the years I have stopped using it for seating on my target ammo and instead seating with a 21st Cent Hydro press. However, for hunting and plinking ammo it still does it all very competently.

Just try Forster dies in your RC. I did not see a difference between the two presses in terms of run out or on target accuracy. The Forster handle seem awkward to me, but I did like not having to screw the die down every time I changed dies. Also I have the little primer catching cup velcro'd to the RC so the primers don't end up all over the carpet.
“Bingo” That’s what I like about the Forster FL dies in my RC.
The decapping stem and expander button float in that die some with the little rubber washer on the stem where it locks down. The expander button sets up higher too, to do it’s work when the case neck is supported by the die. I’ve replaced the decapping stems in my Redding dies also with the Forster ones.

Interestingly, the Forster decapping assembly (the stem plus the holder that screws into the die body) fits the RCBS dies also.

I have a vintage (1968) RCBS 308 die that has damn near zero runout when used with out the decapping stem. I replaced the RCBS assembly with a Forster assembly for $16 and voila!, a match die.

I started reloading in the 80's , only press I own is the RockChucker Supreme , never gave me a problem .I also use a #17 O-Rong under the lock ring makes for easy on and off removes that binding while removing the slack in the threads and giving accurate reloads . It's my one and only press so it's l couldn't advise one way or the other but l love the RCBS RC .

FWIW,
I have the following for single stage presses...

1. RCBS Rockchucker First Generation that was re-rammed at the factory. TIGHT!
2. RCBS A-4 Big Max in almost like new condition. Just wanted one...
3. German Turban Prazi Press. Nearly a $1k for manufacturing perfection.
4. Forster Co-Ax B2. MY first press from 2000... Learned on an RCBS Jr...
5. Forster Co-Ax B5. Too much time on my hands and a coupon with Brownells...

I have run a buddies Redding T7 and have no doubt I will be looking at one. Came close last month when they were $250 at Brownells with discounts and the sale. But why?

All that said. Why in the world would you go backwards to a Rockchucker from a Co-Ax? I would not even go to my Prazi over my Co-Ax... Your call.

Regards, Matt.

I bought a co-ax after reading about how great it was for years. The rock chucked was my first and only press for about 20 years. After using the co-ax for a year, I unbolted it from my reloading table. To me, the co-ax was difficult to insert and remove brass, it didn't have clearance on either side like the rock chucker has on the left. The handle position on the co-ax was in the wrong place for my arm and wrist. Finally, the universal shell holder on the co-ax was nice at times for the unusual cartridge that I didn't have a regular shell holder for, but it wasn't as fast to use for big batches as a normal rcbs type shell holder.

I don't load a ton and have never used a co-ax but do have an old rockchucker. It looks to me like the priming system on the co-ax would be horribly slow. I guess that most guys that use this press use a hand primer too.
Priming on the co-ax goes pretty fast for me. (An exact priming system, no fuss. )
I never take my left hand off the handle.
The priming system was a major discion maker for me on buying the co-ax. JM2C

My $.02 worth, I've had both, sold the co-ax, I don't think the co-ax will keep the concentricity that the rc will, I don't use the rc to prime, I use the 21st Century hand primer (best primer made). Also if you have watched this take 45 minutes and watch. jmho and I'm a nobody.
The Co-Ax is the first press and the RC is at minute 29 or so.

Bought a new Supreme a year ago to compliment my
array of other RCBS presses. I do love the Supreme
for a more generous work height.

I am sticking with my old RCBS presses. When my concentricity is off, I know it is the case, not my press.

Using the plain RCBS dies, too, though sometimes I have to grind the bottoms off a bit to enable the FL die to reach the shoulder. That takes about 30 seconds.

For precision loads I favor the tool with the least leverage.......I want to "feel" how each component interacts with the operation being performed. I want to know about subtle differences so I can relegate the cartridges in "like" batches > BR mantra " eliminate as many variables as possible."
For sizing I prefer floating in the case/ die interface- let the case enter the die unbiased in lateral movement. I use o-rings to retain the shellholder to the ram-not the factory retaining clip.
For seating I use Wilson in-line seaters exclusively- just a better mousetrap IMHO.
I prefer Redding Boss presses -you can set them to cam-over by removing a roll pin that serves as a hardstop, but I also use Rockchuckers for hunting rounds.

The Hornady Collet bullet puller will work in the Forster press. Just put the bullet puller handle throuh the opening under the handle so it is sticking out backwards. Becomes a two hand process for pulling bullets. Yes the puller will leave a ring on the bullet which I did not like.. Went back to using the impact hammer style puller (which broke after about 1,000 times of use).

I’ve had a Rock Chucker since day one, added the Co-Ax recently. I bought the inline fabrication mount and quick change plates for each press, takes a couple minutes to swap them out and the mount is solid. I like having both presses if that’s an option. My son made me a storage rack that works well too. Both presses will last a lifetime and produce quality ammo. I like switching it up.

I have a RCBS Rockchucker, RCBS Reloader Special, RCBS Summit, MEC Marksman and a Dillon 550.

I have not used the Rockchucker or Reloader Special in years. I use the RCBS Summit for de-priming only. I use the MEC Marksman for sizing/expanding and seating bullets. I also seat on a 21st Century arbor press with Wilson dies.

The MEC Marksman is a very solid press. The shell holder floats. I like their press stand because I can just remove four bolts and slide the whole thing to the back of the bench when not needed.
