I don't know how do you tell i will look
Sometimes it will be stamped right by the side of the threaded die insert on the press frame, two numbers usually like 82 for example. Sometimes the insert nearly covers it up.
I wouldn’t go to that trouble.
Does it have a ball on the handle or a straight handle with the green rubber on it? That might give someone a idea on the production year of it.
Good buy you cant wear the rockchuckers out

Ball handle is an earlier version, I think.
My 82 RC II has the straight handle with green rubber smooth handle wrap, I was thinking the ball handle came later.

That must be the case as I purchased my RCII in '86 or '87 and it came with the ball handle. Handles are a direct interchange if someone prefers one style over the other.
