RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme vs. Summit?

I like the MEC Marksman for sizing cases. It may not cam over but if you use the Redding variable height shell holders and make hard contact with the die it does a great job. It will bump the shoulder within +or- .001 every time.

I have a Rockchucker and a Co-Ax. Just got a MEC as I wanted a few things it has that the Rockchucker doesn't. Looked at the Rebel, it has improved primer handling, which the MEC has too. But, what made me get the MEC was the floating shellholder and the better access to the ram area. It is doing what I wanted it to do for me, no issues, like it better than the Rockchucker. I couldn't wrap my head around a Summit when it came out, nice for space on the bench, interesting concept, but, just didn't turn my crank. I see some casting issues with it are showing up now, which may possibly only be on one batch though. Same as FA M press, didn't like the die holder setup, and then there was a precision oriented shop in Canada that sent the first order he rec'd back to FA because of QC issues, he never reordered them for his stock. Finding vids about issues, repairs and mods to the FA cemented that thought, when I saw them, whilst investigating newer presses.

I have the Summit and love it. I have no problem doing any of the steps in the process with it. I live the small foot print and it is very smooth. I also love the open work space. I’m totally confused as why anyone wouldn’t like using it. Very nice piece of equipment.

MEC Marksman I now have these Very Happy .

Had a Rock Chucker ( USA ) for over 35 years . The Best of the Best .................
A Fellow wanted it so so bad ! I sold it.

Time will tell on the MEC but it works well .

The MEC Marksman is a very solid press. Get the stand as it places it at the optimal height. I use it for all my sizing operations (FL size and mandrell expanding).

Looking to replace an older press and can't decide upon RCBS Supreme vs. Summit.

Mostly loading .222, .22-250, and .308 for longer range target/bench and varmint. Concerned with consistency, in particular run-out and base-to-ogive consistency.

Anybody have data to support Supreme vs. Summit? Or an informed opinion?

Midway discounted the Rock Chucker Supremes to $162 the other day. That’s about 11 trays of small rifle primers or 4 pounds of powder, or a couple of boxes of the best bullets.

At that price, it’s worth buying again even if redundant. Should those ever stop being made, it would seem crazy not to have an extra at a price like that.

I have a Summit press and Cannot get it to seat bullets to a consistent depth. They can vary up to ten thou. I know it's not my bullet, neck tension or anything to do with the necks or die because i take the same die and put into my old rock chucker and get maybe a half thou. variation.

Thanks. Between originally posting this and now, I bought a Summit. No problems with bullet seating. I'm down to consistently within 2 thou. from maximum to minimum, and typically less than that. For example, here are CBTO measurements for 10 .222's I just loaded with Berger 52 Gr FB Varmint.

I went with the RCBS Rebel, it’s a true beast of a thing. Very solid press and works great. It does not have an on press priming arrangement, but I use a hand one anyway.
