RCBS Matchmaster

Looking for help setting up a RCBS Matchmaster powder dispenser. I purchased a new matchmasrer dispenser to replace a deceased chargemaster and I am have problems trying to get it to throw loads for a 223. I am running 24.4 gn of Varget but I will get 6 or 7, 25 or 26 gn drops for every useable one. I have been playing with the programming but have not found the solution yet. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You
Henry

I'm really curious Amigos, nothing more.
With a quality mechanical powder thrower, a one or two speed trickler or even a manual trickler and a Scott Parker scale, if that would be faster? And more accurate?

It may take some time to sort out the cause for reports like this one. Since RCBS has made no substantive comments regarding the scale, it might be nothing more than noise effect. Same thing that could affect the Chargemaster.

Brand new scale? May just need a quantity of powder run through it slick up the internal passageways and settle down.

it’s not noise I have one as well and the only way I can get accurate drops is in the extra slow Mode. It’s slow as molasses in the winter but it’s spot on. If I step up to slow mode it’ll throw nearly every drop 1-2 grains over. I have my setups going thru a line conditioner and also a voltage regulator so I know it’s not noise.

While your situation is not likely to be caused by noise, neither your line conditioner nor voltage regulator eliminate RF noise.

if there were RF noise then the scale would never zero out and stabilize. And also if there were why would the scale work as it should in slowest mode yet step up to slow mode and it overthrows nearly every charge? RF noise is going to be there regardless of what mode it’s running at.

That's what I said - your problem isn't from noise.

I also said your add-on devices would not stop RF noise.

Two separate thoughts.

I've also had decent luck programming it to specific powders. Extra Slow is the best starting point, then in adjust where it finishes the large tube dump and let it slowly trickle from there. I've got it to where it can dump an accurate charge in about 20 seconds. Maybe as it gets used more RCBS can release some updates of powder specific profiles through the app. Overall it's basically a Chargemaster 1500 with a better scale.

I wish rcbs would be more specific on what each slider in the app actually does. I’ve played and played with each one going from one end of the scale to the other and I’ve yet to see it make any changes to the dispenser.
Slowest is too slow and slow over throws powder as much as 2 grains this is all in match mode.

I had the same problem with overthrows in slow setting with Varget. The settings I posted helped by changing the short trickle set points. I now get throws within one kernel (.02) in match mode at around 20 seconds. Slowest is spot on but around 30 seconds or more a throw. I think each unit may need slightly different settings for best results. The gal at RCBS I talked to said they calibrate and test each one before being sent out to the retailer.

Here’s my fix to the match master. I made one yesterday for the large tube and this morning made these 2 for the small tube.
I noticed the small tube trying to trickle that last kernel of powder would drop 2-3 kernels instead of one so I’m reducing the hole dia down with a tapered inside to funnel down to 1 kernel at a time.

We are worried about radio frequency noise and conditioning our electricity and things like that I know that my charge master is affected by Wi-Fi Bluetooth signals and ultraviolet lights and I see the new match master is being used with an app which means a Phone I don’t understand unless it is a totally different scale possibly

For me I found initially AUTO MODE worked great till I tweaked the custom stuff.

And as you look at this settings you'll see notes as to what each one does. It's all about when to stop the big tube and how fast the little one runs till it goes kernel at a time drops!

My issue has been getting the Bluetooth to operate on my Note 9 Samsung.! Pairs just won't send to the unit. The RCBS settings look correct.

Ideas ;-)?

When you spend that kind of money I understand they are right around $1000 why would you not spend a few hundred more and go with the Auto trickle Auto throw v3 ?
